  • How to control a spinning pole?

My spinning pole seems to spin out of control. I have an xpert xpole 50mm titanium gold. I love the grip but can’t seem to control the spinning mode. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

While I don't have a spinning pole, I sort of understand the principles of it. Much of it has to do with what YOU are doing- body closer to the pole, it'll spin faster, and body farther away, it'll spin slower. I also know that you don't want to give it too much of a push, or it'll just go like heck really fast!

I'm also positive it's a lot about practice. You'll learn how your pole moves, and what kinds of things you can do to make it do what you want.

Just try little poses, things you know you can hold for a while, and see what happens when you just lift your feet off the ground, or push your feet so that you spin. Or what happens when you try a fireman spin, versus a carousel spin. See if you can hold a pose and make your pole move just by wiggling or flexing your muscles. Explore it!

Runemist34 is spot on 🙂 A good thin to remember is, that spinning mode, is all about holding the pose, instead of creating the momentum, like you would on a static. Its a great strength builder 🙂

I take small forays into spinning pole – and have a section in my latest routine that certainly was a challenge when I first tried it, being used to static. As I phrased it to someone today though, you have to make physics your b*tch. The basic principle is that the more weight closer to the pole, the faster it will spin, which works against all our basic instincts to grab tighter to something when we freak out over the motion. My advice is to always enter your spins slowly and if it's feeling too fast for you, fling out a leg or poke your butt away from the pole or anything that takes to weight away from that central point. I know some people seem to thrive on the super fast spinning but to me, it just ends up feeling like my brain is rattling round and my body can't do anything against the momentum!

Thanks ladies! I will try these suggestions tonight and will give an update :). I’m so used to giving momentum with static poles and I’m all about spins so the spinning mode was confusing to me 🙂
