I’m heading out of the country for 2 weeks and obviously I won’t be able to bring my pole with me. I do plan on bringing my yoga mat though (I use it mostly to stretch, though I have added a few yoga poses into my routine). I will also be sharing living space with family so I won’t have much privacy (no floorwork practice or chair dance).

What can I do to keep fit? I don’t want to lose any strength or flexibility while I’m gone.

Pushups, planks, squats, lunges, "shoulder shrug/plank" pushups, crunches, calf raises…..there are a ton of things you can do!!

I will say, though, in all honesty you probably wouldn’t lose all that much fitness in two weeks, and if you did, you’d regain it very quickly. That’s my guess anyway. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I think you should be okay. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I didnt pole for a whole month in december and didnt do anything else instead to keep fit. Just sat on the couch at home watching movies and eating pizza https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif Dont remember feeling any difference when I got back to pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

    What are shoulder shrug/plank pushups?

I really think you are right about not losing too much strength though. If all else fail I’ll just stretch a lot and come back a little more flexi (fingers crossed)

I didn’t pole for 6 weeks and when I got back on the pole I was better than before – so don’t worry! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
As the others said do plank holds, press ups, sit ups, leg raises and all to keep your muscles working. And definitely do some stretching into side and centre splits like every other day. I found that when I was pole-less I focused on stretching a lot more and I got really felxible https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

You could buy an exercise band and take it with you too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Also using family size soup cans or water bottles full of water or sand can work in a pinch if you really feel like you need some weight training, sounds ridiculous but I’ve done it before lol

Thanks girls. I have arrived in Hong Kong and lo and behold, soup cans and water bottles are everywhere. I admit it looks kinda silly but it works. It’s too bad I’m so busy while I’m here, if I wasn’t I would visit Symone’s studio.

simple, easy, cheap investment – jump rope – work your way up to 2 min increments – try for a total of 10min (in those 2 min incriments). (the handles should come up into each of you armpits while you are standing on the rope) it should swing easily.
