How to move after being inverted
Posted by reddesire on December 25, 2012 at 5:58 pmI can do invertion really good but when you grip the pole upside down I cant really move my body to turn into a transition into a new move. Suggestions or certain video I should watch?

I will suggest working on a reverse handstand. Once you are there and can hang in an inverted crucifix then you can start working on moving around. If you do not have a strong inverted crucifix then you really should not be inverting and trying to move around at all.

I can do an inverted crufix one handed. No hands hurts to much.

Then how do you expect to be able to move into any other position? Excuse me for being blunt, but if you cannot do an inverted crucifix then you NEED to work on this FIRST, before doing anything else. This is a safety move. This is your "Oh shit, things are about to fail horribly" escape move. Using your legs to hold you is what ALLOWS you to be able to get into those other moves.

If an inverted crucifix hurts to hold, your leg positioning is probably incorrect. It shouldn't be painful. Try emotioncatcher's tutorial. She has you start from the ground. Hopefully it helps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfkaX4GiRuQ

It hurts because of the leg skin being taunt. If I wanted to ignore the pain then I can do it. But because of a Vit C definecy I automatically develop black and blues when I am done doing it.

reddesire, you will get used to the pain eventually……many moves are so painful. Some that I can think of off hand is pole sit, shoulder mount, and superman! Just keep working, the pain will become tolerable.

As Lyme Lyte said, many new moves are painful. However, as Chem said, inverted crucifix is basis from invert to other things. Of all the things I learned, inverted crucifix was one that "did not" hurt, wonder if your vitamin deficiency causes your pain. Many of us get black/blue when learning things where skin is taught, grabbing, etc. so don't know if it's deficiency related for you or just part of poling.
As you said, ignoring the pain can allow you to get into position. Even though some things are more painful than others, getting passed the pain is the same for many moves. I remember learning Superman, OMG, soooooo painful. Now it's sooooooo fun to do.
Just "hang in there" and it'll get better. Keep us posted.

Chemgoddes makes an excellent point about it being a safety move, or a "bail" as I like to say. It is worth being patient enough to make friends with it before you move on. It's the kind of thing you not only want to be able to do, but to be able to do quickly at the drop of a hat no matter how tired or sore you are!
