I have been great at stretching every single day and I’m getting super close to having the splits on my good side. Two night ago I overstretched and now it hurts from my crotch area all the way down to right behind my knee : (. The last time this happened I lost most of my progress and I’m sad that the same will happen this time. Are there any tricks to speeding up my recovery? I wish I wouldn’t have drank wine before stretching….thats probably why I didnt feel the stretch as much.

vamp– are you engaged in the front leg when you stretch? bc if you're not– that is probably why you keep injuring yourself.

as for speeding recovery time– for a pull or strain, best thing is rest. sorry =(

amy-I’m not sure if I am engaging the front of my leg, can you explain what you mean by that? I think ot happened when i was sitting with my legs in the straddle position and then bringing my chest to the floor. I heard a crack but no pain at the moment. It wasn’t until I finished stretching for the night that I felt pain.

A crack? Ouch!! Yeah that sounds like a pull but usually the pain comes pretty fast. Maybe you were warm enough not to feel it right away.

A friend of mine pulled a muscle (adductor or hammstring can't remember) 4 months ago, she's recovering slowly, she's been doing gentle stretches on her muscles so that the scar tissue doesn't get too hard to work on later.

Apparently some of Bob Cooley's stretches (Book:Genius of Flexibility) are good for recovering from muscular injuries, check it out.

    Take care!!

pink_bubbles-yup, the cracking sound was a little disturbing. The pain is not as bad as the last time though so hopefully it means a quicker recovery. I will look up what you recommended for stretching, thanks!
