https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifThat is great pole fairy. Mine is down to the middle of my back now but still comes up to an inch above my breast on the front if I pull it, otherwise it curls up a few inches. My  natural hair is really wavy and I straighten it a lot just so it feels

Hi all. I hate my hair and always wish it could be longer/thicker/wavier etc.  But…just got home from meeting up with my best friend who has always had fabulous hair. She is going through chemo and after a little over a week from her first treatment she had lost so much hair she had it shaved off.  Just a reality check .My friend and all of you are beautiful. Enjoy your hair however it is !

I had long hair in 2007 that touched the small of my back but during one of my super depressed states, I pulled it all over my shoulder and took sissors to it, not even caring it was very crooked so after about a month, I wanted to get it fixed and my mom's b/f trimmed it for me and it eded up being about an inch above my shoulders. It was weird not having my long hair and I would sometimes forget it was gone and go to pull it over my shoulder to play with it. DAMN, I missed it a lot ;x

I wash my hair every over day – every 3 days, depending on if I start feeling grungie, haven't had a trim since then so after 5 years, my hair is back to where it was but an inch or 2 longer so I'm a believer that giving your hair time to get at least a little greasy is actually good for it because it's nourishment and it ends up growing faster than it would if you washed it every day.

I do have split ends so I'll eventually need to get it trimmed maybe a few inches. I dread sissors touching my hair though lol

I have long wavy hair which I dye dark red from light blonde…. Its been around a year since I used shampoo and I haven't looked back!  When using shampoo my colour faded faster than it grew out, my head was alway itchy and dry and my hair was not in good condition.  I use a paste made up of baking soda and water to shampoo and a diluted vinegar solution to condition – don't worry about the smell as it evapourates out as it dries.  My hair is shiny and clean, my colour lasts longer, my scalp is no longer dry and flakey and my bank balance is much happier!  I wash around twice a week… And I have no plans to return to shampoo use!

Like how you are using the vinegar for conditioner. I want to start experimenting w/ making my own too.

Update: the baby shampoo broke out my hairline boooooohttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif

so I have always heard about the benefits to not washing your hair everyday…but i'v always wondered…how do you start the process? Will I look like a greaseball for the first while? And do you still get your hair wet every day in the shower? Or do I go get a shower cap? lol

please help a confused girl out. 🙂

@krissy-Most shampoos on the market actually attract dirt-

Try using one that is from a health food store and you'll never look back. I like EO essentials. I also like one by Desert Essence that is the pure and free one. You won't look like a greaseball. I always push it further. I will be at day 5 and think one more day lol!

Anyway, just put your hair up in a bun while you get in the shower. Some people get in the shower and just rinse it(w/ just the water).

Angel, I just keep malt vinegar in a glass jar in the shower with a small bowl, I pour a couple of tablespoons of the vinegar into the bowl, then top the vinegar up with warm water from the shower, rinse it through my hair, then rinse it out.  It leaves it very shiny but not so soft my hair ties slip out… I use real conditioner only when I colour my hair.

To the lovely ladies whos growing their hair long:

Its a though process and it can feel like its taking forever. Especially the part where it has to go by your chest. But it will!

For the last 4 years I've grown my hair and worn exstentions. Then about 6 months ago, I took my exstentions out, and realized that my hair was just as long. Finally! 😀 Even though it feels like a never-ending process, but it will get there, and when it does, it feels amazing!! Keep up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Just wanted to post an update on my Mega-Tek usage.  It has been a month and my hair has grown about an inch.  So it definitely seems to be growing much faster and is stronger.  I have also stopped using shampoo and I am conditioner washing my hair instead.  I was really worried this would make my hair greasy but suprisingly that is not the case.  It is actually much less greasy a couple days after washing it than it was when I used shampoo!

I finally abandoned the extention idea because it was too high maintenance & damage from pulling on the scalp – so I've committed to my OWN hair health…I just read the HAIR BOOK by Philip Kinsley a trichologist (hair specialist) and his advice in a nutshell is:

    >wash daily! keep scalp super clean followed by conditioner on the ends

    >deep condition 1x week, treat it like silk / rarely brush

    >it starts from the inside = healthy diet veges & protein

    > massage your scalp daily (i use pure coconut oil)

    >consider your genetics and hair type & accept what you have

    >exercise

    >& don't stress because that makes you lose it!!

All I know is growing it out is a VERY slow process for my super fine curly hair. Not patient!
