I did an anchor hold spin while shrugging my shoulder up to hold my phone to my ear and now I have had a pain right below my shoulder blade and my left shin is completely numb, any idea what kind of injury I have suffered and if this will get better over time?

What was the apin like?  It sounds like possibly a pinched nerve – was the pain sharp?

The pain did not happen right away, it started about 15 minutes after the spin and it was like someone suddenly punched me in the back. it keeps coming and going mostly when I try to keep proper posture, it is relieved by slouching.

I had something similar happen to me a while ago and when I went to the chiropractor it was a pinched nerve.  For me, all I did was close the front door and suddenly I felt this intense sharp pain and I couldn't breath, my arm was going numb and getting tingly.  Slouching relieved the pain for me too.  I went to the chiropractor – got full on X-rays and a neck adjustment – that did the trick for me.  Not sure if this is the same type of injury – but you should get it check out for sure.

Although I went to a chiropractor – that is not really recommended by most, better to go to a regular doctor unless you already have a good chiro you currently see.  (Chiropractics is just so controversial that I hesitate to recommend it to anyone who doesn't already go.)

You may have a very irritated muscle. I did something similar a few months ago when I was attempting to deadlift SM. I was brushing my teeth and suddenly had this horrible pain. I had my friend do a myofascial release which really helped. I suggest you take some ibuprofen to help with any inflammation if you are able. If you are on medications or have some reason you can't take NSAIDS, then please don't.

Warm compresses may help. I'd go to a osteopathic manipulative medicine physician and they can adjust your back or do a myofascial release. I don't dislike chiropractors but I feel like they are always so into getting you to sign your whole family up and they want to see you like once a week. That's unneccessary. I'm sorry, adjusting your back isn't going to cure diabetes, hypertension, etc. lolol

OMT docs are great. I hope you get it figured out!

Yes, my chiropractor was seeing me 5 times a week at one point and it was really expensive – he then ended up agravating a muscle spasm – however when my neck is stiff or I pinch something I can rely him to fix it.  Definitely hesitant to say chiropractor unless you already know they drill – they like to scare you to bits and take a lot of money.

Thanks everyone. the back pain is getting better but I still have absolutely no feeling in my leg. I am stubborn about going to Dr. so I will give it until Monday and if I don't start feeling my leg by then I will go in and get it checked out. I have been to a chiro in the past and it made me start having terrible headaches so I hope I don't have to go that route.

    Get well soon!

Interesting to know that I"m not the only one who has tried to pole while on the phone.

I don't want to scare you, but the numbness would be a bigger concern to me. I wonder if it is something spinal rather than just a peripheral nerve. If it were me, I'd definitely have it checked out by a doctor asap. (and not just a chiro)

I hope it ends up being nothing.

Please let us know how things go 🙂

my leg is still numb my knee down to my ankle it just feels "asleep" I don't have money to get it checked out so I guess its indefinitely going to feel this way but at least the pain in my back went away.
