I had a thought…element H2O
Posted by Tovah on June 22, 2011 at 10:00 amI saw that many that are competing at the midwest have much swimming/synchro. background and made me wonder about "AQUA POLE".
I wonder how that would work but thinking this might be an upgrade to aqua fitness. I can just imagine floating tricks with dives…

I found some poles in water when I youtubed "aqua pole". I posted it on my fb profile.

Sounds like fun for aqua pole. Should be much more easier when my arms are not strong enough to hold my body LOL.

I would drown! Swimming is one thing I really don't do well!!

I just came across this youtube channel couple of days ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/AcquaPole
Their classes are obviously meant mainly for non-polers as yet another tweak to aqua aerobics, but it looks like a lot of fun and hard work! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can imagine it could be brought to totally different levels by trained synchro swimmers. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

The Iron X would be mine for sure…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I would think I would learn proper technique without panic for the iron X.
Yes,I agree that would be a new level for sychro swimmers.

For normal polers (non-syncro folks) it would be a good way to learn proper body position and what small muscels need to be engages for various positions without worrying about smashing your head open. Obviously you wouldn't be able to do it out of the water if you just didn't have the strength, but it's be a good mini-step towards getting it. I just wonder what the cholrine (or salt water, if you're lucky enough to have that) would do to the poles over time. I can't imagine it would be good.

I agree FreeTheSun, you'd probably need a non-traditional pole coating so it would stand up to the chlorine or salt but I do think it would be a great training aid. Just to be able to learn what a position feels like without fear of falling would be a great help. I'll bet I could Aysha in a pool…I wonder how long I can hold my breath??? LOL

Pavi, thanks for the youtube link. A lot of fun to "pole" that way LOL. I just know for sure that if I do all the "upside down" poling, water will come into my nose. I can swim but not so well. Aqua poling is a nice way for beginners not to be put off when they don't build enough strength for complicated routines.
