I haven’t yet committed to a membership because I do not have a pole and want to make sure that I can get enough out of the lessons. I still am not sure. i felt that the three days went in a flash, of course I didn’t have enough time to check out all the lessons with work and all and not having a pole to practice with. I do think that Veena is a very good instructor!

I feel the price is MORE THAN reasonable for the what you are getting. I am an instructor so I use it to supplement my teaching but even if I was not this is still a steal. I would say you need to up your prices vs. lower them any more.

This frustrates me a little b/c people will pay 150.00+ for a private lesson with a pole star who might not teach you a darn thing but you can’t spend 99/year for good quality lessons? That is .27 cents per day! and 8.95 per month! You are getting lessons that are actually put together in an orderly fashion…Business owners who are actively involved and getting back to you about issues you are having with the site… Owners that are constantly asking you for feedback about how they can improve things… The list goes on…
That is called good customer service and you can’t always put a price tag on that..
Sorry but cheaper is not always better…You get what you pay for…When you look at the whole package of what your getting it is a steal!!!
I understand if you have to move on in case you want to learn really advanced stuff and your learning curve moves faster than the pace of the lessons.

The 3 day intro is fine. You can still see all the lessons that are offered before you buy and how they are organized. You can tell after watching 3-5 videos if someone’s teaching style is for you. 6 months is way too long and not good business practice.

The way I look at it is sometimes everyone is not in your target market….if that is the case they can go to YouTube.

Keep up the good work 🙂 Don’t sell yourself short….

My studio is one of the higher priced studios in Atlanta and my students gladly pay the money. B/c they are paying for the experience….clean studio…someone who answers the phone, good instruction, we answer emails promptly, etc…All of these customer service things matter and adds value to your product.

I would suggest highlighting on your website all of these “extras” that you do (answering emails, constantly getting customer feedback, how this can help instructors supplement their teaching, what makes you different than YouTube, etc…)

Also maybe do a student request “Move of the Month”…where a member can submit a move they would like to see broken down in a lesson…that might help with retaining some of the advanced girls

    Good Luck 🙂

I think the price is great. It’s just that I teach at a studio, part-time, and what with that and my full-time job I just don’t have enough time to pole at home very often or commit anymore time to it. So I know if I paid, I still would rarely use the lessons just due to time limitations. I have told alot of pole friends, especially when my students move away, that the lessons are great and to sign up.

I think, unfortunately, you will always have a percentage of users like me who use SV for social stuff and not lessons and therefore don’t feel they could make the most of the lessons, and won’t buy them 🙁

Do you think it could work to have membership fees for some parts of the forums? A free, public forum for those who can’t afford to pay and enjoy the social aspect of it, and different members only sections?

I’m not exactly sure what would be different about the paid sections of the forum, but it’s an idea to add value to the site for those who won’t use lessons.

And then perhaps there would be an upgrade for those who are paid forum members if they then would like to pay for full membership.

More thighs on that idea, perhaps video and pic uploads could be something that paid members could use. I dunno. Current forum members who have access to that now might not feel it’s fair, though. And rightly so, I guess.

    Hm.

    Just thoughts.

I would be really disappointed to see the member videos made only available to people who pay for lessons. Especially with YouTube causing issues with music when we upload vids. Not to mention that this is the only place that I share certain videos that I make – like the sexier of the two videos I did for UPA’s Bringing Sexy Back week.

I think that adding a fee on for example the video section would “cost more than it tastes” for studioveena, people would watch vids elsewhere.

A better way to increase revenue could be to split the lessons into sections (pole/condtioning+stretch) and set them to something that in total adds up to more than 99$. At the same time, introduce the longer free trial period to not make the increase in price as painful (for those who know of the current price). Maybe old subscribers could be allowed to keep the lessons for the same fee as now another subcription year or so, to reduce the risk of loosing them.

If there is a split, it will also be easier for the ones who have problem paying everything in one go, they could start with one of the two. No one really seem to think your prices are high, it’s just that some can’t pay it all at once.

    Also just ideas.

Or what about adding on some kind of pay-per-lesson option? Kind of like the way you can buy a full album on Itunes or just one song.

Even a donation button somewhere would be useful for members who might want it say thanks for all the time and work that goes into this site.
I also want to add that I agree with everyone else here who thinks the price for the lessons are a complete steal for what they are worth.

But just to throw in an idea, since there is the option to pay $20 dollars for access to the full site maybe an option could be that if you pay for the month you can extend for the year minus the already paid $20 (I don’t know if it’s already like that)

I think the donation button is a great idea! It’d be an easy way for those of us who appreciate what you do, but for whatever reason don’t become paid members to say thank you. It’s easy to setup with paypal too.

    A few things:

    1) WOW!!! This is becoming an amazing thread. The value you guys attribute to Veena’s lessons is amazing. There are some great ideas here which is what we were really looking for with this thread.

    2) Don’t anyone worry. While we appreciate that there are people who find that much value here, we will not charge for any feature other than the lessons. When Veena started pole dancing the forums available were catty and mean, Youtube was and still is less than ideal and the pole community was fragmented. One of our core values is to provide the community features completely free of charge so that pole dancers never have to experience that again. this is very very important to us.

    3) It seems that the range of available financial arrangements might not be super clear, so I might need to work on that. If the $99 is too much for someone up front your have the $20 per month and the $35 per month, additionally every new user gets sent an early upgrade option giving you the first month for $10 if you want to try it, and as many of you are aware we run sales quite frequently as well.

We so appreciate the love we get from the community, and while its hard work from the time we wake up until the time we go to bed this is an endeavor thats worth it. It’s nice to hear that you all realize that Veena’s rapid responses come at a cost, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve been about to go to bed sometime north of midnight and Veena still has just a couple comments she’s got to reply to before bed or one more email.

I want you to know how much you all mean to her.

Aw, I couldn’t have said it myself! This is why you’re the best business partner, you’re not too shabby as a husband either! 😜😘😘

After putting in the promo code for the 3 days free, I can definitely see why it’s worth paying for. The lessons are explained really clearly, and it’s easy to find exactly what you want to see. The quality is a lot better than most of the tutorials on YouTube. I don’t have a pole at home, but it’s a great reference to go over before going to a studio. I will most likely be getting the membership soon 🙂

I keep justifying it as “I shouldn’t get the lessons until I get on a consistent pole schedule.” But now that I think of it, paying for lessons might force me to pole consistently!

I had the lessons back in 2008. I never renewed because life has gotten in the way. I now own and operate my own studio and now it’s just a matter of having time to even use my membership. I had a membership to another video service and I rarely used it.

I had the lessons for a little over a year. There’s several reasons I didn’t renew.
    1. At the point that my subscription was up I had mastered everything on the site a while ago and hadn’t used the lessons for several months. I understand that there is new advanced content now, but it’s hard to justify the $99 to learn one or two new moves. I, however, think the $99 is an amazing deal for someone who can use more of the lessons and always tell my students about it!
    2. My focus has become doubles pole and any “for me” pole time I have away from teaching is focusing on doing that.

That being said if there were “how to teach” this move lessons on here for pole instructors I would be signed up in a heartbeat! I love how Veena breaks down the moves, explains points of contact and what muscle groups are being used. Even if it was just a supplemental audio to the same video with her talking through how she would teach a move.
