We’ve had many people suggest charging per lesson. That is much more complex and expensive than one might think. Due to the size of the pole community we’d have to charge much more than you would think in order for that to make sense as a support mechanism for the site.

OLIVIA, I think as a former business owner you can understand that there is no such thing as “just”. Pricing models have to account for an entire range of business needs. A shift to individual lesson pricing would change our support model entirely, we would experience loss in our other pricing verticals that we would have to account for in the individual lesson pricing in a way that simply doesn’t make sense.

Many people familiar with iTunes might think, a lesson can be a dollar or two and it would work perfectly. However that pricing model is built on a much wider audience. The pole dancing audience lacks the breadth of other audiences so individual lesson pricing would have to be in the five to ten dollar range and only accessible for a set period of time.

Since things are pretty good the way they are -It seems most people just want more content and a few little tweaks here and there (I’m no web person so I don’t mean to minimize any effort that would go into changes that appear small) what about trying to market further out and having the lessons dubbed in other languages of places where pole dance is very popular. I know I’ve seen tutorials in Russian and Cantonese (I think) that I wish were subtitled so I could get all of the instructions.

Hi there, I bought two yearly subscriptions and loved them. In fact, I bought the lessons before I got my pole and I learned all the moves so fast (and safely) because of StudioVeena. But I did not use the second subscription as much.. I logged on only a couple times because as some posters mentioned, I could only utilize the advanced videos. I had already gone through the stretching/foam roller videos so I can now do those without needing to review the videos. I already know how to hoop, and I take conditioning classes at the gym. I also had a membership at a pole studio, so I did not even TOUCH my pole at home. My studio also teaches combinations on spin. BUT I saw Veena post a lesson on the Janeiro, and I have cut back on the studio, so I am considering signing up again.

So the major factors for me were- not enough advanced or spinning pole lessons, already knowing a lot of the material, not having motivation to pole at home, and I enjoy having the camaraderie at a pole studio. I think the prices are VERY reasonable. These lessons are my #1 choice for home poling.

DVDs are statics, have limited space and limited functionality. Veena is constantly updating her lessons and we utilize related lessons and all kinds of other features that are difficult to do on a DVD.

Just as important these days: it is tough to create a profitable DVD. Producing and pressing a DVD is very expensive, you have to sell thousands of them to cover your expenses because people are much more likely to spend money on online and digital content.

I have had the lessons a few times. I noticed that I would rarely use them when I had them. Then I became more advanced and only used them for the stretches then I just never renewed. For me to renew, I would love to see more new advanced moves broken down, casting moves, tumbles, and drops. I am just not personally interested in anything but advanced moves, stretching, and advanced combos. I have been off the pole for over 6 months now and would love to be able to use the lessons for motivation because with Skype, people either only want to schedule once a week or sometimes don’t even show up. Having the lessons makes it so you can pole anytime and have instruction, but I just would need there to be much more advanced content and what I mentioned above to join now. I see SV do all this totally cool stuff in videos and I wish there were lessons for it.

As someone new to the site who also works on the web my observations are more about usability than content. The content is AWESOME!

I think that most people probably land on the site via discussion or video subpages like this one. There’s a ton of good info here, but it’s not immediately obvious what kind of site you’re looking at. Even on the front page there’s no summary of what you’re looking at. Even just a tagline on the header like “The largest resource for pole fitness on the web” would help and encourage poking into the other areas. When I first landed here I thought I was on the site for an actual physical studio and assumed the content would be location-based with schedules, etc. Also, the first ad you see is for the Lil Mynx pole. Is that a better sell for you than a membership to the site? Just something to think about. I hate ads, but there’s nothing wrong with stating your value up front and making it clear a) what the user is looking at and b) what you can look at with a paid membership.

I hope this helps! Message me anytime if you want to talk shop.

I know when I first joined this community I waited a long time to get the lessons. The 3 day trial didn’t give me a ton of time to explore and I wasn’t sure if it was the right choice for me at the time. Back then you guys were doing the free day trial over mother’s day thing and I was able to explore a bit more and then made the the choice to purchase. I agree with what others have said about extending it to a free 7 days. I think that will allow people the time to comfortable explore and get a feel for the VAST amount of lessons you have.
On another note, have you guys thought about creating some sort of pre pay online streaming sessions. Veena you could run a group of people through a pole workout live or teach a routine. I have no idea if this would be of interest to anyone, but it’s any idea to evolve your current platform 🙂

I used to have the lessons a few years ago. They were great, but I stopped using them because it was hard for me to self-motivate to actually use them. Also, it was hard for me to tell if my technique was correct. I guess that’s what the live chats were for, right? So, kind of my fault there. I agree that more advanced lessons would be great, as well as floorwork. I especially have trouble with floor flow from the pole to the floor and back again. Maybe you already do this, but it would be great to have groups of people working on specific things to keep each other motivated/accountable. I do agree that you all are great at responding when anyone has questions about the moves too!
