Sounds like a a lack of flexibility, probably in both the upper ( chest and shoulders) and lower body (hamstrings) You’ll get it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

It could be also that you are not positioning yourself right, I had the hardest time with this move, I thought I was not flexible enough, that I couldn’t lift from there (even tho I could do a head/elbow stand just fine), then I realized I was just not folding forward enough, I only had a little bit of my neck on the pole, once I actually bent forward and put as much of my spine on the pole as I could, I reached the pole with both hands rather easy, it was a shock. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif Lol, you’ll get it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif

Thats sooo true Dayanara, good point! I was assuming she knew the position and was struggling because she couldn’t bend over far enough. Yes, the farther down the pole you can get your upper body (think: head to knee’s lower if you can) the easier it will be. This is why you need hamstring flexibility, then you can do a good forward fold. Also be sure your not on your spine, you need to be off to one side, on your trap (the slopping part of your neck) not off on the edge of your shoulder or right on the spine. Here is the lesson if your taking them

this move has not really been attempted too much as although can do a good foward fold, and easily reach and grip the pole, i feel like when i go to go up i am going off to 1 side and i really don’t want to hurt my shoulder/back if i just sort of flop off to 1 side.. i am maybe not going itno it fast enough? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

PLEASE DON’T JUMP INTO THIS MOVE.
if you don’t have the core to do it yet, work on an armstand from the floor into a CAR or CKR, without kicking. if you can’t do that, you will not be able to do an iguana mount.

thanks for the advice. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif ya i am too afraid of tipping over if i go into w/o control so rteally haven’t worked on this one. maybe once i finish healing up from that split done w cold muscles and can start deep stretching again ( tight tight hamstrings) and i am finally back to working on abs. tring to get my little 2 pack back https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
