Hmm…you sound like me. I suspect you may be a scanner. There is a book about different types of scanners and different methods to enjoy it vs fight it. Most helpful book I’ve ever read.

Scanners love to read and write, to fix and invent things, to design projects and businesses, to cook and dance, etc etc. (I didn’t use the word "or, " because Scanners don’t love to do one thing or the other; they love them all.) "I Did That Already." – time to learn something new! Some interests I cycle back into and others I never do again after I’ve met a certain goal. The world is like a big candy store full of fascinating opportunities, and all I want to do is "taste" it all.

Pole is the only hobby I have stuck with for a while. I noticed my "obsession" has lessened a bit for me and wonder what that means for me. I’ll probably cycle in and out of it. I used to be upset with myself when I "couldn’t stick with things" but now I am proud to be a scanner and enjoy it!

I could be wrong , but do you think you could be a scanner? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

"-Set a goal…..Keep it attainable and specific. Don’t say "I wanna dance like Felix some day" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif "
Aww crap, there goes my plan! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

velvetvixen, that sounds very familiar. I’m the girl with a million hobbies. I cosplay and love to sew, went to school for fashion. I used to raise frogs …then it was rats… now it’s chinchillas. I love to read. I bake. I play video games and watch manga. I pole. I hoop. But I never have enough time (or space) to do everything I want and some hobbies get put on the back burner. Sigh. Thanks for the link!

    Hey Ladies!
Thank you for the advice! I think, Veena, I’ll be trying a little more consciously to set real goals and stuff. It’s just…sometimes I don’t actually know what to do to make a move better! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I know I need more strength, though, so in general, just more dancing is good.
Velvetvixen, I read the website, I showed it to my husband (because that’s a very accurate description of him) and we both agreed that it sort of sounds like me…but it sort of doesn’t. Having depression makes it a little harder for me to pinpoint, I think. I have my "specialty," which I’m going to school for, but all my hobbies are…really all over the place! But thank you for the link! It was a great one to read about! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

guess who finally put their pole back up…after a year!

the first major thing i did is finally clean my place. i have a lovely hardwood floor, but got huge lovely area rugs so i could do workouts on them and not hurt my back. but…i have to CLEAN them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif i’ve had crappy vacuums, and i wasn’t going to get serious about getting on that floor until i finally hoover spin-scrubbed it (its a steam-cleaner, got one off craigslist).
i had to do it TWICE because it was sludge the first time.

second–i ordered 2 pole workout videos. it makes me feel much less intimidated about spending time with my pole. i can do moves easily in class, but once you do a few spins, you don’t know what else to do, when you’re at home. i like these pole workouts, whether i follow them strictly or not, because i have some structured time with my pole, not just the pole "staring me down", waiting for me to do something.

i’m like, ‘i just got here, don’t look at me’ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

third–i finally took the time to figure out how to monthly clean the pole. i had it up a month, and HAD to take it down after a month to clean it, no way i was going to let it get stuck up there! i assumed i would have to do it in the tub–guess who never cleans her tub. i spray it, but don’t scour it enough. once i decided to clean the pole last week finally–i decided it made more sense to get the corner of a kitchen towel wet, add soap and wash the screws, rather than getting all the inside wet. then i rinse out the rag and wipe off the screws, dry them and WD-40.

fourth–i’ve been home sick having problems walking, got so bored i finally cleaned up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif laying in bed for weeks hasn’t helped, i figure i’ll try to workout more!

omg, its one year since i got the pole, and its finally back up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
ps. try not to do poling workouts right after you eat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
