I have a Electra pole at home and I HATE it. It is fine for beginner work and has never felt stable to me but for the more advanced moves. The bottom of the pole is not nice for sliding down and I never seem to be able to stick to the darn thing. On that note I have heard bad things about it’s stability so I never practice a lot of advanced moves on it. I use it lightly and treat it like it could come down at any moment.

I am looking at Platinum Stages, Lil’ Minx and X-Pole. I want a 45mm. In pole class I am always there early to get the skinny pole as the ladies call it. We have platinum stages poles at our studio and I really like them but I would like to hear what everyone thinks of X-pole and Lil’ Mynx before I make my final decision.

I will be using it with my Personal training clients for strength based exercises along side a mounted TRX style suspension trainer. I will probably not be teaching much pole dance because I don’t want to compete right now with the studio I work at but I will be helping some of the ladies with specific goals related to pole when they come to me for training so I want to have a good stable pole to work with them. Since my business is new I am trying to get the best value as well as something I enjoy practicing my moves on.

So I want a very stable pole that has both spinning and static modes that is 45mm for the cheapest possible price with shipping. I know I am going to have to fork out some money but I am trying to determine if the extra 100 or so dollars for a Platinum Stages Pole is worth it.

When choosing a pole, you want to think in terms of long term goals- as a pole really is an investment and a purchase you should take seriously to assure you get the longevity/resale value out of your purchase. With that being said, if your long term goals are to compete- you may want to strongly consider the X-pole. I say this because traditionally (at this moment in time) competitions use X-pole brand poles. There is a difference between the spin on an X-pole and a Platinum Stages pole. Very crucial training elements for competing can make or break your routine if you’re not training on the proper equipment that is utilized for a big performance. Another factor for strongly recommending X-pole is resale value. In a few years, say you want to sell your X-pole because it just wasn’t for you. You’re more likely to snatch a buyer and resell for more money than a pole that is not in higher demand that the one you’re stuck with and desperate to off load. Another thing I really have enjoyed about X-pole is their customer service. They have been awesome in every regard and being a studio owner, I’ve had to contact them several times. I will say that Lil’ Mynx has always been easy to deal with as well and my first ever pole was a Lil’ Mynx. I’ve not really had very much commentary with Platinum Stages to comment on how well their customer service is.

You can’t go wrong with any of those, though I only have x pole and lil mynx experience. Picking a finish is a whole other issue! :p

Xpole is the best hands down and they continue to develop their technology so that when new products come out they are interchangeable 🙂 I’ve tried them all

How much does spin matter to you? If I were in the market for a single piece spinning/static pole, I would go Platinum Stages. They have the best spin hands down (I really like spinning!)even if the pole bows from being overtightened over time. However, if you need a multi-piece pole, or don’t really care as much about spinning, maybe an X-pole is a better option, I like the adjuster cover much better on the Xpole, and really dislike it on the PS. Though I believe the pole can be inverted?

I have had both good and bad luck with customer service (more bad luck) through PS. I mostly have had quality issues with their multi-piece poles in the past. That has been a few years back though, so there is potential that has changed, but I personally would not go that direction again. Xpole customer service has always been helpful to me. No complaints there.

Corby- I used to topload my PS multipiece because I hated the adjuster cover. They discontinued the toploading option so now you cannot flip it upside down for the multipiece but you can still do it it for the single piece. I think PS has the best spin mode. That’s why I prefer it, but their service is so atrocious I switched to LM.
XP is great, I just hate having to unscrew every time I want to switch to spin!

Good to know! I did not realize that inverting the pole to get that adjuster cover out of the way was no longer an option with the multipiece. I have an old style (all metal, even the plates) PS stainless steel single piece static/spinner.I love it and plan to never get rid of it. But I cannot say the same for the newer multi-piece options.

    That’s what I had for a long time…Then I sold it because I wanted a 45 instead of a 50 only to be disappointed!

I’ve tried every pole out there and I would highly recommend an Xpole. They have great customer service, they provide a wide variety of pole finishes, their poles are durable, sturdy and reliable and they are always improving their poles and coming out with new pole innovations that benefit the poler and the pole community as a whole. I’ve had my Xpole for over 4 years and it still looks and performs great. I agree that the spin mode on Xpole is slower than PS poles to me that is the only thing that is good about the PS poles is the great spin their poles have. Everything else about the PS poles–the quality, put up and down and finish I do not like. I have several friends too who have had nightmare experiences with PS customer service. I know that PS has been trying to improve their poles, customer service and trying to reinvent their brand the last couple of months but I still think Xpole is the cream of the crop they know what they are doing, they have this pole making thing down pact. Lil Mynx’s are nice poles for those who really like powder coated poles but it is definitely an acquired taste.
Good Luck and let us know what you end up getting!
