    I acquired a hamstring injury 5 months ago and it’s taking so long to heal. It’s a recurring injury on my right hamstring-and has been coming and going for 2 years.

    It’s incredibly frustrating because I have a Competition coming up. I worked really hard to audition for USPDF and I got in. I love to perform and I really wanted to do so this year.

    The rest of my body is still strong and I’m able to get creative with what I do. I can still dance! I also still do Flexibility training, I just skip the Splits.

    I’m honestly not sure of how to train fully and properly without stretching or working the hamstring. I’m sure I can create a beautiful routine without Splits or anything too Flexy.

    I feel like my body is capable. It doesn’t **LOOK** like I’m injured. I can still technically perform. But I’m not in a place where I can really train the way I would want to. Especially because the feedback I received on my audition video was that they would like to see more Flexibility. Hah!

    Truth be told–I’ve suffered a variety of other injuries this year. I’m healing from a dislocated knee from 1 month ago, I have a new wrist sprain from a recent handstand training. There are a couple of other minor things, but I am just dealing with lots of pain and ouchy things.

    I feel like I’m constantly having to work around my injuries and it’s so difficult to just STOP. I’ve already taken some weeks to stop, and my injuries didn’t heal. I don’t want to stop dancing or moving. I don’t feel like I necessarily have to…

    But I want to heal my injuries so that I can make all the beautiful gains I’d like to make in my Strength and Flexibility. But if I want to heal…even if I don’t stop dancing, I do feel like I would need to move at a pace that promotes healing. And Competition training is quite rigorous!

    **Sigh** so I’ve processed through a lot just by writing this but I wanted to share anyway because I train myself and would love some support for what I’m going through!

    I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It is frustrating to work around the constant niggling injuries that we aquire and just can’t seem to heal. I tried that and it is depressing because you can’t do what you want to do, know you have to stop but can’t.

    I’ve injured the muscles between my spine and ribcage and have had it for three months and whilst I don’t regret the injury- I’m predisposed to back injuries due to my scoliosis and I didn’t do anything wrong- it is hard and sadly there is a lot of us out there in the same boat.

    I wish you werent in the position that you are in but good luck with the competition and I hope all goes well. You sound like a strong person. Good luck with the healing.

    I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. 🙁

    What category are you competing in USPDF? I’ll be there as a spectator but they sold the tickets separately… So I only bought the amateur/pro qualifier tickets.

    My friend who is training for it… She has also been through so many injuries and ups and downs so I know how frustrating it can be, because I’ve seen it first hand.

    I think you’re right… Just venting and expressing your frustrations here can be helpful. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully I get to see your performance 💕

    Oh my! I am so very sorry to hear about your injuries. I can relate big time! I have struggled with multiple injuries mostly since I moved to the East Coast….. And partially because I’m no spring chicken.. Haha!
    I did my first competition in 2014 which wasn’t to bad for me but than since I have had multiple injuries and had to drop out of several completions. Finally I decided to do another in 2015 and failed miserably but not because of my injury believe it or not, it was because I got a spray tan before my competition and had NO IDEA how it would effect my grip. Put it you this way, my rehearsals were better than my actual performance. Serious epic failure.
    Since than I injured my GOOD shoulder and found out that I have a torn labrum in my hip. It has been a year and I have not been able to practice pole. My shoulder is definitely damaged….. It’s better than it was but still a long way to go. My hip gives me problems when I over work it…. Like with my own workouts.
    I have suffered from herniated disc in my neck, nerve damaged all the way down to my fingers. That took at least 6 months to heal.
    So trust me when I say I can relate!!
    However, do keep your head up. You will recover but you must to it slow and try TRY to be patient with your recovery. I know it’s hard!!
