Installing/Removing Pole Questions

I just got my star standalone stage and pole and I love it. I added LED lights and it looks spectacular (see pic). But what is the key to inserting and removing the pole? It doesn’t seem to screw in, and yet, when it slips into place, I’m not sure how to get it out. Unscrew? Pull? And how to I place the screw to stop the pole from spinning? Any help would be appreciated!

I don’t own this pole but I remember putting one together with a friend and seems like a similar problem she had until we noticed there’s a little hole you have to match up with the pole and the base…not sure if this is your issue but maybe it will help
