So I’ve had my pole for awhile now, but I recently moved and now have vaulted ceilings..:/ I bought a ceiling mount and an extension, but honestly I’m scared to start drilling holes in my ceilings since I’m not very “handy.” So I have a few questions. Since I had to buy another extension do I still use the other extensions or does this one replace the old ones?
I noticed where I would attach the ceiling mount to the pole is really gooey.. is that normal? When I put the pole in to the mount it just moved around a lot. I just wanted to make sure that once I put the ceiling mount up the pole wouldn’t fall down or out of the hole.

Also, this might be a weird question but have any of you hired someone to help you put your pole up? I think I’m going to have to hire an electrician to take down the ceiling light in the room I want to put it in, but I don’t think electricians would know how to install a pole. 😉 My husband isn’t very “handy” either so any thoughts/ideas of someone that could do this kind of work? I know it’s probably as easy as drilling some holes in the ceiling, but I just want to make sure I do it right..

I have a permanent mount, and yes the ball joint piece is oily/gooey. Shouldn’t be an issue. Youve got to find a ceiling joist and screw the mount into it. You may or may not need a piece of wood to “expand” the width of the joist as the mount is 4″ wide whereas the ceiling stud is only 2″ usually. I’d get a handyman to take down the light fixture and put up your pole no need for an electrician.
