I can't believe I am just hearing about this now!!!  Yesterday I came across this info rather by accident.  Denver is hosting an International Pole competition???  It is this weekend, Aug 6th & 7th.  And the best part of all…one of my biggest "pole crushes" is competing!  (Rhiannan Nichole)  I am all sorts of twitterpated thinking I get to see her in person, along with what looks to be a fabulous line up.  I am a bit surprised to find out we are hosting this here in Denver and that I haven't heard about until now.  Why has no one mentioned this before???  Is anyone close enough to Denver that they might be going?

Hey there!  I haven't heard about this either!  I'm your next door neighbor, I'm down in Littleton.  I would LOVE to go but I have to make sure I have a sitter.  If I have a sitter, then absolutely I will be there!!!!  How about you?

I am in the same boat…need to find a sitter.  But, I am going to try my best to be there!  Here is a link to the website in case you are interested.

There is also going to be a telecast and voting for some of the performances.  This was posted a little while back as they had online voting for those that did not make the initial cut (i think they had a few open slots that they set aside for this).  Rebecca Starr and Molly Murcia (aka Lyralicious) are performing as well as Mattcrobat, Luis and Swift Ali from NE Ohio.  There are some BIG names in this comp!!

Forgot to add….there are great workshops for this at reasonable prices, too!  Seriously…$40 for 2 hours?  That is a STEAL!!!

depends on how many they let in the workshops…if there is 40-50 people in each one I'd pass. I can't get the page to come up to see how many they limit to.

I've gone over the site and I can not find anything that says how many they are going to limit in the classes.  I assume that means that there is no limit.

The workshops (most, but not all) are going to be held at Mile High Pole Club in Parker. Dionne has got…14 poles…? So they can conceivably double up on each one, which'll be like 28 (?) in each class. But I'm not sure there's going to be enough space for 28 students. I'm taking Michelle Stanek's flexy workshop. We also have a vendor table at the Expo. PLEASE come say hello at the DollHouse Pole Studio table! I'd LOVE  to meet some local Veeners! To Stevesgirl & Thescientist: I'll be the Chinese girl with long, permed hair (similar to my profile pic but no more bangs). I hope I see you both!

I will be there! I’m signed up for the three workshops on Saturday and one more on Sunday. My friend and instructor Holly Miely is competing so… I’ll be the one in the audience screaming myself hoarse!

I will definitely keep my eyes open for fellow Veeners. Exciting!

What an awesome competition! The amateurs were off the hook and it was unbelievable that the pros gave such amazing performances! Plus, the workshop competition blew everyone minds away–especially Timber Brown…wow…standing ovation.

For the girls here: TheScientist, thanks so much for coming to say hello! Please contact me when you come into Boulder. Teresawitch: Jess Leanne was spectacular! I'm so glad I got to see her perform live. So dynamic and strong. And sweet! You're very lucky you get to study with her. K2Weller: love, love, love, Holly! I've taken a workshop with her when she was in Denver last. Her skill level is simply jaw-dropping. She really performs!

I took the Flexibility workshop with Michelle Stanek and she is now my latest pole crush! She taught a fantastic class and all my joints are pleasantly sore today. I am more determined than ever to work my splits and practice the exercises she taught us on a regular basis. My friend took the Tango workshop with Maria Luz Escalante from Argentina and said it was super challenging and lots of fun.

If anyone is going to the comp today (Sunday), please stop by the DollHouse Pole Studio vendor table and say hello!

I was in Michelle’s workshop too! After a 4 hour drive that morning, it was good to stretch first thing. All of the workshops I’ve taken have been fantastic. I’ve really enjoyed learning from all of the different instructors with their unique styles! So much fun!!!

I went to the comp on Saturday but not today. It was a lot of fun to watch for sure.

I was also lucky enough to take several workshops.. Jess' Handstands & Inversions, Hanka's Tricks & Combos, & Carolyn's Yoga Pole. All were a lot of fun & such a great price. My muscles are super sore tonight!

So for those who don't know the results:

    Amateur winner: Phoenix Kazree

    Pro winner: Michelle Stanek

    Best Artistry: Maria Luz Escalante

    Best Athlete: Timber Brown

Teresawitch: you should be very proud of your teacher–she was really amazing! I really hope she does more workshops in the US soon.

K2Weller: were you in the right corner closest to the desk? I remember hearing someone say they drove 4 hours to get there. I wish I had known! Would have loved to chat with you!

Kissingaudrey: Wow, you took some serious workshops! I'd love to see what was taught. If you're in Boulder, would you be willing to come to my studio and show me a few things???
