Inverted V to Handspring
Posted by Poledivalita on November 10, 2013 at 6:31 amI swear I heard or saw somewhere that you can go from an inverted V, move your inside hand low (without touching the pole with your legs i.e. no outside leg hang), and then push out to a handspring. But when I try, it seems impossible. I either hook my outside leg/ankle or I contact with my inside thigh to stabilize as I move my hand down. Does anyone have advice????

Hm-I have never seen or thought of trying that. I know you can push out into a twisted grip aysha from reverse aysha.
It seems possible….!

I think I may have seen this from a shoulder mount but not from in inverted V. There is going to be too much twisting and repositioning of the upper body to do it from a baseball grip (at least in my opinion).

This is definitely a thing! You need handspring/aysha top hand to be what is your outside hand on your straddle invert. Make sure your hips are really high, by the pole and your hands so that when you take the inside hand off the balance stays right.

Thanks, Robyn! I’m going to try that and see how it goes. Whenever I get this move, there will be video:)

I simply cannot picture this in my head, but I am absolutely intrigued! Please post a video when you get it! 🙂

I agree with Robyn- if you think about the one handed meathook but with legs straddled either side of the pole it should free up one hand to manoever into a handspring.

Robyn and mizzli seem to be suggesting two different handsprings, as in the first one the inside arm will be the low arm and in the second one it will be the opposite (at least when I do the meathook I will hold the pole with my inside hand).
I haven’t tried any of the two transitions, but I assume that in the on from the inverted V, the big difficulty will be that the inside shoulder will have to move from being in front of the pole to behind it.

The whole point for me is getting into a move where you can have one arm free to put at the bottom of the pole whilst keeping your bum and legs in the air without the need to hook a leg and pushing out into a handspring. I suppose you would end up into a reverse ayesha but can still straighten out into a handspring.
There are other transition points but that is how I would do it…

Ah, yes! Just saw it on FB. That’s the most perfect invert I’ve ever seen.

Very cool, I like it! I did something similar a few years back, it’s an invert into a SG straight edge. I used my leg lightly to assist in the transition but I think it could be done without the leg touching at all. I’m gonna try it the next time I practice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Siso8Pl0WRY
