Iron X progress
Posted by Veena on July 3, 2010 at 8:18 pmHadn’t tried the X for a while so thought I would just see if I could do it on a larger 50mm (had be using my 45) I did it…held it for much longer than I have before. Still needs work but I’m super proud https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Oh and I’m using a true grip, not twisted.

BEAUTIFUL Veena. This is on my list to learn. How do you initially get into it? From an extended butterfly? Any tips?

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif i don’t think I could ever even dream of being able to do that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

just amazing, such strength. It is soo admirable. How did you get to this point? Was it by poling only or are there other things that helped you become this strong?
-
Thanks everyone! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif I can hold it longer now but here is a practice vid I did, the x is towards the end…Here’s how I get into it

After we moved back to MN, about a month ago, I started lifting weights again…then I started working on the X. It helped a lot. I use to lifted all the time before I found pole, and whenever I go back my muscles just wake right back up!! The 2 yrs I spent in CA I just didn’t have time to train like I use to and I attempted this move once a while back and there was no way I was strong enough. When I have perfected it a little bit more I’ll be doing a lesson on my variation of it using the true grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4334That opening spin you’re working on is pretty awesome!
-
Thanks Empy…I saw someone do this spin, I can’t remember who or where…I’m thinking it was a vid from the DC convention.
I found a better pic, I didn’t realize it was a good one until today when I opened it to see full view!!

I think Badazz did that variation at the Pole COnvenion when he won the spins and tricks competition?
I’ve been working on another simpler version which is the first half of that…but not the part where you turn your body aroung again at the bottom
It’s at 4 min 39 sec here:

I don’t think she is on this forum???

Nicely done girl!!! That move takes so much strength!! LOVE it!!! xoxo
-
Amazing! I’m in awe of the strength it takes to do that.

Hey, awesome X Veena. That’s such a tough one!!
I saw Leigh Ann do that spin you are talking about in this vid at 2:35 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og9iSNqHH_4&videos=hVo9E3VmBQk I’ve been teaching it in my advanced workshops. I call it the lifted reverse hook to knee hang. I wonder what the "official" name is?? You can end on either knee depending on if you want to switch legs at the end or not. It’s such a wow trick, everyone loves it. You have to start high enough so you don’t hit your head on the floor – as I found out when I was trying to figure it out!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif

That’s the spin that BadAzz calls the dangerous spin.
-
I heard he calls it that, but to me it doesn’t seem like a title. Lots of spins are dangerous!
Speaking of the iron X, Veena are you lifting into it or are you coming out of an inversion to go into it? I’ve been trying it both ways. Inversion to Iron X works better for me, I have a hard time getting the lift from standing.
From standing some lift with their belly up:
a la XXXBex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDr08nCs8Lc&videos=JxnSp24QhwYothers lift more sideways or even belly down:
a la Sarah Cretul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-ko6rX76r0 (1 minute or so in)Belly up is working better for me however, I just float to a certain point and then I can’t lift up anymore. Anybody have any thoughts? I must need to work on my lat strength.
