Is Anyone Interested?
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this, so please take a look!
My mother has always custom made my dressed and hand placed thousands of Swarovski crystals on them. She has also done so with my shoes, and made them match my outfits. Since I am going to be in an upcoming performance, she is going to do a pair of Pleaser shoes.
She has recently been thinking about making a little business revolving around this. Hand-placing crystals on shoes (either in patterns, full coverage, etc.) and outfits for people. I told her about the community here (and how much we love our shoes and sparkles!) and I told her I would ask here if anyone would be interested in it, so if she did it, there would be people who actually want it. Here’s a little more of the idea.
You could send her the shoes (outfit, what have you), and the color of crystals you wanted and the design. She could then do it, and send them back. (Or perhaps she could get a custom order, for example, you tell her you want X shoe from online, she orders it and does her thing, and then the price she would charge would include the price for the shoe since technically she bought it). We haven’t thought that through very much.
But Swarovskis are expensive, and she mentioned that would make the whole thing very expensive. SO I suggested maybe there could be two different options – a cheaper one and a more expensive one. The more expensive one being the Swarovski, the cheaper being (good quality!) imitation. Then there would be an option for those who couldn’t afford it otherwise.
I got the idea of coming here because I was looking for the best place to buy Pleasers and someone mentioned there was a woman who you could send a pair of heels, she would “glitterize” it, and send them back. My mom can glitterize things too, but she also puts these crystals.
So I’m just asking — would this be something anyone would be interested in? If she made a website and stuff, with before and after pictures? I don’t have any pictures of the shoes she has done for me, unfortunately, but I do have a before and after picture of a dress she did for me years ago, to get the idea of the crystals I am talking about.

I actually was able to find a picture or two of the shoes. Hopefully this gives and idea, and when she does my Pleasers, I will put before and after pictures of those too. Please tell me if this is something that you would be interested in, I’m trying to see if there is an audience for this!

I have a friend who is currently doing this on Etsy. You buy the shoes and she places the crystals. There are a few others on Etsy that do the same. Veena has a DIY site of FB and there are some links in there to people who have done this. I want to say there are a few who also do this for competition costumes, so there is definitely a market.

I personally have no need (yet) for these items, but I really like what she did with the purple dress.
