Jamilla DVDs vs Felix DVDs
Posted by Goofy on February 24, 2012 at 9:27 amHello
I need advice, what dvd series are better, Jamilla or Felix? I'm thinking of taking Veena lessons and , to supplement, Jamilla or Felix DVDs
Thank you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_elephant.gif

Start with Jamilla's Art of Pole series in conjunction with Veena's lessons. Felix Cane's DVDs are a little advanced and are a great investment for later down the road when you're solid on Jamilla's DVDs. Jamilla breaks things down from the very basic movements to essential and easy to do advanced moves. Felix moves fast with little explanation for the beginner. Her method of teaching is very much watch and do with emphasis on a more advanced learning style for pole.

I think it depends on your skill level. I haven’t used Jamilla’s, but I found Felix’s videos extremely easy. I was a little disappointed that I purchased them all. I really only needed the advanced one.

I have both sets also and like to alternate. I think it is worth the money. Lots of information. Great demos. Great explanations. From those videos: I learned how to do a twisted shoulder mount and pencil V (where you bend over and lean your back against the pole and pull your legs up into "pencil" position. I thought I would never be able to do those moves and I learned from the DVDs. I also learn from StudioVeena videos. I like everything! Instead of buying clothes, I buy pole lessons!

Thank you very much girls. I bought Pole Pocket Studio and I like so much Felix Cane's videos. She do things/moves slow, because of I think to buy her DVDs but first I want to know your opinion 🙂

I find that I learn and am also entertained by these DVD's. I have to tell myself, "Stop watching how great she is…..and try it yourself!"

Another thought: I also learn a lot by watching the videos posted here at StudioVeena!

donnalee, I think that most of us sit open-mouthed watching Felix Cane 😉
Yes, I learn a lot by watching videos here, too (and youtube) but If you self-taught, it's better if you have detail intructions, I think, it's more safely, not?
Thanks again 🙂

Goofy, I also have both dvd sets and would have to agree with Kobajo. Felix's teaching style is very much "Just do this; now watch a replay 3x" and Jamilla has a style that is articulately broken down into comprehendable and individual steps "Place your foot here, lean forward, tilt your hips". For safety and lack of frustration, Jamilla first. Felix is fun but second. 🙂 Your milage may vary. 🙂

Someone posted "Pocket Pole." Yes! I have that too. Great app. Great value. I watch and then keeping clicking/freezing the video to learn how to do a move. I learned Allegra from Pocket Pole, but still struggling with smoothing it out and not getting stuck on the pole in a twisted clump.

I have to agree jamilla DVDs are way easier to follow. I have been dancing 6 years all self tought. I’m not great but I’m ok considering lack of proper instruction. I have spent so much time and money trying to find the right videos and I fell in love. The videos can be a little pricey but so worth it.

I have both DVDs and I agree with the vote for Jamilla for your first set. The tricks are in a logical order for building strength and skills to do the advance moves. I felt Felix's were a bit more jumbled in their skill level if you watch them in order.
Felix's had some tricks that Jamilla's didn't have, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost for those.

I have both sets, and Jamilla's are probably better for your first set. Felix's seem like they are meant for a more experienced beginner, looking to clean up their moves.

Thank you very much for your opinions, it's help me so much 🙂
