Juicing and poleing
Posted by CapFeb on June 19, 2012 at 12:08 pmMy friend wanted to try juicing for 60 days as he feels he’s out of shape. I said I’d do it with him for the first 30. My issue is that I only spend two days off the pole. I’ve had issues in the past where not eating/eating like crap have lead to near crashes at practice and during work. I want to keep up with my friend, but saftey is my #1 priority. Has anyone juiced in the past and found a reliable source of protien that works for them during? For instance, only eating solid foods before 10am or the like? Thanks.

Um…what is juicing? In the weight-lifting world that's slang for 'roids but I'm pretty sure that's not what you are refferring to….

Juicing is eating only foods that have been placed through a juicer. IMO you lose so much when you do this as opposed to running it through something like a vitamix. I would never do anything this drastic for more than 2 weeks at a time. At 60 days your friends is going to have major issues bringing regular foods back into his diet.

I thought 28-30 days was the maximum "safe" juicing length. Two weeks seems drastic enough. I have a friend that is juicing and she did a lot of research and decided not to go further than two weeks. She's also going to slowly add back some solid foods (like a single piece of fruit) after the first week or so. I don't think 60 days is safe or healthy. Also, what you eat doesn't make you fit. If he wants to get in shape, he needs to work for it, not rely on some extreme diet change that won't change anything long-term.

There was a documentary where an Australian man did juicing for 60 days. He consulted health specialists and what not. It sounds bad when I say it like, “I don’t want to half-arse the experience” but at the same time, the body needs more than fruits and vegetables.

I’m an avid juicer. But I use it supplementally. I don’t mess with fasting, especially now that I workout regularly. I know my body and it requires that I eat several small portions throughout the day. I’m burning more calories now and I don’t want to let my tank run out. Supplementally, it gives me a huge boost in the morning and my skin looks amazing!!! My favorite juice recipe right now is : 2 handfuls of organic spinach, 3-4 large leaves of kale, a few organic carrots, 2 apples, handful of blueberries/raspberries and or strawberries, a couple big chunks of pineapple, an orange or two and a squeeze of lemon and a hint of mint. YUM 🙂

Did you still feel like your body was being cleansed even eating the small portions? I go back to work tomorrow and I just got done with the detoxing (or so I feel I did) and don’t want to undo the work I’ve done.
