    hey spunkeh.

i saw a photo of a split grip aysha on your profile. maybe practice to lower your body slowly from there to get some more strenght, then you won´t need more momentum.

furthermore for me the cartwheel was a lot easier to learn than the handspring. maybe it´s the same for you?

you can also ask someone if experience to help you by holding your hips.

    good luck

I have lessons on both of those if your interested. posting a video of your attempts can also be helpful so we can visually see what is going on.

Ahh thanks 🙂 will try and get a video next time I'm practising!

The cart wheel scares me! I see myself slamming my feet into the ground when I go over, haha :s

The cartwheel still scares me sometimes but is is my favorite move 🙂 It took me longer to learn the handspring though, but now I think I feel LESS scared getting my legs up that way, as opposed to carthweel.  I also can stay up for longer and feel less strain on my arms if I handspring up, weird!

Brass monkey I can only get into from a forearm grip straight edge, or my favorite entry into it is from a shoulder mount 🙂 Make sure you bring that hooked leg across the pole tightly, not pointing the foot down, but across more to lock you on
