Hi everyone my name is Renee! 🙂 I'm only 18 years old but i have been married for about 3 months now. my husband just joined the Airforce. i just stumbled across this website one day and after looking more thoroughly at it i thought wow i need to learn how to do this! I remember when i was like 15 i could flip upside down and spin down the poles at the park but now I'm not so sure. my first question is since i will be moving alot will my pole be able to be taken down and with me? can it be put on carpet? and im only about 10 lbs over what i want to be and i cant seem to loose the last 10 i guess i hit a platue will it be hard to pole like this? thank you all for any feed back ill get cant wait to become part of the fam!!! 🙂

You can definitely do this! I think you will find as you keep looking at this site that there are dancers of all ages and sizes on here. I’m about 10lbs heavier than I like to be as well, but when I started pole dancing I was another 15 lbs heavier and had zero upper body strength. I’m almost 47 years old, so if I can do this, you can too : )

Since you know you are going to be moving around a lot and you never know your housing, I would strongly suggest looking into an X pole.  That being said, most poles have a rating up to 250 lbs (some a little over, some a little under).

Depending on how much you weigh, like Chem said, an x pole will work for moving around, or a lilmynx (but that requires a screw into a stud.) The LM has a little bit lower weight limit than the x (I think 180 pounds.)

I'm heavier than I'd like to be and I can pole just fine. It just takes a little extra effort to get my butt off the ground. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

We have had many students over 150# …some in the 200# range.

What you weight doesn't matter…what your condition is does. I run about 155# now…been higher and been a bit lower…and I do a lot of advanced work. I've had students in the 200# range who can do advanced work…I've had students at 110# who can't pick themselves up into a spin.

Everyone is different and you  may not be able to flip around like you did when you were 15 (who can?) but even if you could, you still start slow and build your way up into different moves.

Progressing safely and getting use to the pole is more important than flipping around or inverting and there is a LOT of beautiful pole work to learn at all levels of pole.

Everyone is totally right, anyone can enjoy pole dance. I also say X pole would be your best option for poles if you will me moving often. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I love my X pole! In fact, Im buying a second one today in a different size and finish. It comes w its own case. It can broken down and placed in a bag easily to move. It also doesnt require any drilling into ceilings so you can put it up anywhere you have a support beam in your ceiling. I move it back and forth between two rooms at home- one w carpet and one w out! I also pack it up and take it to my cousins.  I am 5'3" 140 lbs and can do lots of advanced moves. I say go for it!
