Skimming this thread….seems there were some 'stripper' or 'stripper-ish' pics posted and the worry is that this site will become more of a 'stripper web'? 😉

Eh. I think probably anyone who comes here ONLY to post those sort of pics won't stick around. Most of us, while yeah, are into the 'sexy', at least at times, aren't interested in posting/viewing sexy pics that have nothing really to do with pole at all. Just my 2 pennies.

I do love a good debate and I can see everyones point. I think its probably best to report anything that offends you and leave it to the webmaster to decide on action. That person who had posted their nipple pic might not have realized they were offending someone and could be have their feelings hurt due to this debate. I’d rather be told in private that my photo is offensive rather than in public, thats just me though. I do think this post was just a thought said out load and not meant to upset anyone.

There is also a very good chance that the person did not even know that their nip had slipped out.  All I can picture in my mind is the whole Seinfeld episode where Elaine sent out Christmas cards and her nip was showing.   I sent it to Nana.  And Sister Mary Catherine.

Maybe we need a block button? I for one post alot of pictures that has nothing to do with pole. Some of them in lingeri but never showing something. If someone where to be uncomftable with that, they should be able to block me, because I wouldnt take them down. And if I was told by webmaster to remove them, I would and then I would leave the site. By this I dont mean that I think anyone here is talking about me, Im just saying that its so different from person to person. I understand the nudity rule, but poses, underwear and pole vs no pole in pictures, should be up to the person uploading it.

the thing i was thinking is : what about if there is mens on this site, making profiles to watch the videos of the girls and ….

it would be cool if there was a way to "authentify" or whatever you can say that, your profile, "verify your profile " like with a piece of paper you write your nickname on it and then take a picture

Veena and Webmaster do a pretty good job of looking for suspicious new profiles and such. They can’t catch them all but I do know that they do not ignore the possibility and they’ve taken action before. I figure, though, if they’re just pole curious and don’t say anything demeaning or harass anyone, then let ’em watch! 😛

Perhaps the fact that the things being referred to here are "so hard to explain" is a good indication that this is one of those subjective gray areas that everyone has a different, but equally valid, opinion on. Something that is a clear violation of an accepted code of conduct would be easy to explain- "I saw posted pics of genitalia, of sexual acts, etc." Anything else should truly be at the discretion of the poster. Many states do not allow women to walk around in public topless. Topless is defined as showing the areola. Therefore, I've seen girls out at clubs wearing pasties! It doesn't fall under what most people would consider a shirt, but it's not breaking the law. So in my opinion, power to her! I'm the last person to want to limit anyone's freedom of expression, even if I don't agree with it. It's like on Facebook- I belong to a couple of those humorous internet meme pages and it always blows my mind when people feel the need to post a long rant about how they found a particular post offensive. If you find it offensive, don't look! If you find the majority of a site's content offensive, maybe it's time to rethink your membership there rather than requesting that others change on your behalf. If you still enjoy a vast majority of the site's content, then perhaps adopt the mentality of "c'est la vie" and take the good with the 'bad.' A huge component of pole dance is a woman's celebration of her body. If that celebration flows over into other areas of expression, awesome! Pole dancing helped me develop a much healthier body image, but does that mean that I'm only allowed to feel that way while I'm on the pole? When I take pictures with no pole in sight am I supposed to go back to being that awkward self-conscious girl who was told she looked like a man because "girls aren't supposed to be so muscular"? I certainly hope not… I love SV because it is such a supportive, accepting community. Just remember that accepting others also means accepting their differences. It saddens me to think that whatever girl you were originally referring to now feels awful about herself, or that now a bunch of people are rifling through their photos to take down anything that might be considered "too sexy." Us girls get enough of that from society at large. Let's not also be dishing it out to one another.

When Veena and I started StudioVeena.Com there was not one site for all pole dancers.  There were forums that were for exotic dancers, there were forums that stressed the fitness aspect only, there were forums that seemed to be targetted at one particular clique or another and that got fairly heated and attacked people they didn't like.  There were even sites that didn't like you if you showed uncommon talent.

StudioVeena.Com is different, it is for all dancers.  We adhere to what is generally accepted as common levels of decency, no female areola and no genitalia.  We embrace all styles of pole dance and the empowerment that goes along with participating in an athletic, artistc and sensual activity.

You are all beautiful and you all have something to contribute, lets keep those contributions supportive and positive.

This thread was started with one particular picture in mind, an issue that has since been remedied.  I think its only polite and supportive of the community and users involved that we discontinue this thread, if anyone would like to start another thread regarding everyone's subjectve views on public decency, which is really a good topic, please do it as a seperate thread.  Thank-you.
