Las Vegas Pole A Palooza
Ladies and gentlemen, I had the best time last night at Pole A Palooza held at The Bank inside the Bellagio! It was wild and outrageous. 17 girls competed, and although most were local, there were a few from California and Atlanta. These women were awesome! There was definitely a huge difference between "dancers" and "exotic dancers", as well as between "dancers" and "performers". First off, it wasn’t easy. The pole looked pretty slick, even though a security guy wiped it down in between each competitor. Almost all the girls climbed to the top and did loads of tricks and combo tricks, with speed, precision and seemingly without fear! The first girl that captured the crowd was a short, curvy, African-American (?) girl named Spider who flew up the pole and did a series of release and catch moves. The whole club exploded with applause. She was dynamic and charismatic and had everyone worked up into a frenzy. I believe she was an exotic dancer from CA and if so, she’s one of those girls who incite every man and woman in her club because she looks like she’s such a fun girl and ready for anything. And for all you ladies out there who feel they aren’t as thin as they want to be: this chick wasn’t a little ballerina type–she was short and compact with some serious glorious booty that she knew exactly how to use. She oozed confidence and wasn’t one of those ice-princesses who aren’t attainable. Now, there were other girls who were cooler (maybe not as raw and sexual?) and were incredible dancers and could put their bodies in the most crazy poses (all men will whoop over girls humping the pole, regardless of her pole skills!), but didn’t necessarily have the "showmanship" quality to their performances. The girl that won ($5000 prize) was a beautiful Caucasian contortionist who I believe dances with Cirque Du Soleil. In her semi routine, she started to go into a shouldermount (was in a tucked position) and bounced her way up the pole using her abs BUT COMPLETELY ON HER TRAPS! Can you imagine the pain???? Yes, she definitely was talented enough to win (Jennyne Butterfly, who just won in NY, won it last year), but I kind of felt like she looked the part more than some of the other talented girls, and that was certainly in her favor. To be honest, I didn’t stay until the end because I couldn’t breathe due to the smoke (I’m such a whimp), but what I saw was stupendous. I think that all of you guys would have loved it. Next time, you all should make the trip out here for it!
