I recently started poling again and I have noticed improvements in my strength, but I can’t seem to grip with my legs well anymore. I have gained weight and think my grip position is different. It just doesn’t feel right anymore and I can’t seem to stick. I have been doing the handstands from the floor and trying to hold an inverted crucifix that way. I also do squats, lunges, and plies. My leg strength in general is doing fairly well. Any suggestions on how else I could work on getting this back?

Hi.. Just a thought since it’s winter.. is your pole warm? Are you? I can’t hold an invert crucifix to save my life if either element is cold.

Ugh I hate my pole in winter 🙁 I also can’t hold a basic crucifix or anything actually. Grrrr.

Warm up your pole with a hair dryer in winter ladies

I’ve done the hair dryer trick. Also maybe using a garment steamer might help? Clean it and warm it up all at the same time 😉

Have you tried iTac or Mighty Grip on inner legs and pole? It might help while waiting for weather to warm up!

Check out Veena’s video on tips for winter pole. I’ve been doing this and it really helps. It absolutely helps to have a warm body and pole, too.

I’ll try the hair dryer trick tomorrow and see if that helps. I’m scared to put grip aid on my legs because I’m not used to the pain! lol. I’ll try the hair dryer first and then the grip aid. Thanks for the suggestions!

If my legs are being uncooperative ill spray them with hairspray. It’s sticky so it helps me stick but doesn’t grab in a painful way like dry hands does when you rub it on your legs. It does leave residue on your pole which doesn’t bother me because I like the extra grip but it may bother you. Just thought I’d suggest it 🙂
