So, I wouldn't call myself an avid poler, but I do enjoy it and when I have time really love to pole and work on my moves. Over the past few months I've had my end of year uni exams, moved out of my old house and into a new flat – with all the stress that comes with moving house. So I haven't really had much time for poling, but now its all over for the summer I'm trying to get back into it. I can still remember the form for all the moves I knew, and still remember how to climb (I hadn't moved on to inverts), but my grip is just absolutely shot. I can't climb or sit anymore, and can barely spin without ploping to the ground instantly! Its really frustrating because I felt I'd made so much progress before 🙁 Anyway, any tips for improving grip? I know my strength is still fine – I can do more pressups and stuff than before I stopped poling – so its just grip on the pole really. I've tried just holding myself up on the pole for as long as possible (which is what I used to do to help grip) but I just can't hold myself up – by the time I lift my feet my hands have already slipped. Also, any tips that don't involve equipment I'd have to buy – poor student self >.< lol. Thanks 😛

Tennis Balls!!! You can use them to strengthen your hands and they are CHEAP. I'm not sure if you have the lessons here but I'll give you the link to a few exercises using them!

The basic idea is to first hold the ball with the palm up and then squeeze and release, this can be done with the whole hand or one finger at a time…then you can turn the hand palm down, (you'll have to keep the thumb on the ball so it wont fall) and do the same. Focus on lifting the fingers high off the ball. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

That sounds ace thanks! Whenever I've asked people before they've always told me to go out and buy something really expensive, but tennis balls? We have loads in the shed haha ^_^ I like the idea too that you can do each finger at a time, or all at once – very clever 🙂 Cheers!
