    Hi everyone!

I just moved to Santa Cruz, CA where I'm very distressed to learn there are no pole studios in the entire county! I love this area but I'm totally bummed about the lack of local pole classes, and seriously missing my old pole community in Colorado.

I'm hoping to connect with other local dancers at all levels, who are interested in a semi-regular pole jam. We could rotate locations or find a good home where we can practice, play, and learn together.  If you're interested, shoot me a message please!

Also interested if anyone has recommendations for teachers who do privates in the area.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Zahara Rose – I have a recommendation for you. Go to http://www.sedusastudios.com.

There a several studios in the bay area. I went to a studio in Campbell. Loved it! There are a variety of classes from beginner to advanced levels. The students are very fun too and get dressed up for class. I grew up in the area you just moved to. Know all about the "Boardwalk." There are a few people from that area that post here on studioveena. You will eventually interact with them. I know live in Florida. Have visited sedusastudios while visiting back home to Northern California. You will eventually find a pole community there : )

Thanks, DonnaLee! I have actually been to the Sedusa in Campbell!  Good people, beautiful studio. I'll probably hit up a class or two there sometime soon, but I'd love to have some truly local folks to dance with regularly too…

I know what you mean about "local" classes in the actual Santa Cruz area. For sedusastudios, you have to drive down "the mountain." That road still scares me. People drive soooo fast!

Hi! I am new to Santa Cruz also, and yes I went through the same distress after realizing the lack of pole studios! There really should be one out here..

I do have a pole of my own (x-pole) and have had it up in every house I've been in, but the one I have in SC has very high slanted ceilings so it doesn't work https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

If I can find a spot for it, and actually use it, I'd love to communicate with other dancers and have us all practice and learn from one another, so if you know of any open space for that, that'd be cool.

Also ~ there is place in sc called the Aerial Playground. They offer silk and aerial hoop lessons, etc. along with "vertical barre" class. I had to laugh at the unique wording they chose for pole. but I like it and have yet to check that class out.

    Hi ladies!

I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to respond to this, but it seems like right around the time this thread was started is when I moved back to my home town of Santa Cruz and started teaching "Vertical Barre" (Pole Fitness) classes at the Santa Cruz Aerial Playground 🙂

I love finding like-minded people here! Yes, you all are right; there were virtually no studios in Santa Cruz. The sport is very, very new here (hence my class name, although I've recently been back and forth on changing it to pole fitness because it seems that our small community is receptive to pole without the stripper stigma. Yay!).

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say hello. Thanks so much for the support and please stop by anytime 🙂

    Check us out: http://www.aerialplayground.com/calendar

    XOXO,

    Jeanette

    Hi there girls!

I just wanted to continue adding to this link, even if it’s a little late, and say that I have just recently gotten involved with Jeanette Bent (see above!) – she is the awesome new owner of AERIAL ARTS SANTA CRUZ 🙂 We are working on building a pole fitness program… I’m running several classes and offering parties while she’s teaching more advanced tricks and even a competition track!!!!

We are so excited, check it out on facebook or at http://aerialartssantacruz.com/ or of course feel free to stop in, woohoo!
