Hi everyone! I'm starting a networking group for women owned businesses in my area. I'm having a site made as we speak.  Although my group will be local to Southern Wisconsin, I would like to include any non-local studioveena.com business owners on the site.  I will have a "friends" page on the site dedicated to non-local women owned businesses.  If you send me a link to your business site, I will add it to the "friends" page.  Your business does not have to be fitness or pole related, just woman owned.

I looked into joining a BNI group, but it's way too expensive for me plus they have recruiting quota's, etc…  I plan on charging a small fee of $12 annually to the members (and future advertisers), just enough to maintain the site.  I'm not doing this to make money, just to support and share ideas with other female entrepreneurs/business owners.

I own a pole/fitness/yoga studio and feel like there needs to be a networking group dedicated to small, women owned businesses who are on a budget!!

Again, although this is a "physical group", I would still like to include my virtual friends from sv.com!  I'm hoping that if I have a few businesses already listed on the site when it launches, it will encourage others to join 🙂 The site will be going up next week.

I'm not sure if the idea of this type of group will be well received or not, but the women I've talked to so far seem interested and we already have some "Coffee Talk" meetings set up.

Please let me know what you think of this idea (good/bad) and if you would like to have your business link added to my site (FREE).  If you are local to Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois, I would encourage you to join the group when it launches :))))  It's only $12!

    Thanks!!!!!

    Hello there,

I am a business owner in the Tampa Bay Area. While I appreciate your idea; I don't think it is appropriate for you to charge a $12 annual membership fee. Regardless whether you have any members or not you still have to maintain the site if you want to keep it running. You receive great benefits from backlinks which equate to great value and higher ranking. I love to be part with your idea; I am not willing to pay $12. It is a matter of principle. Of course it is only my opinion.

    Thanks for reading,

Orchild ~ Thank you for your feedback.  As i stated in my original post, I have invited my studioveena.com friends to add their link to my site for free.  The fee is only for local businesses, and only if they choose to list their business on the site.  I'm not web savvy enough to know what "backlinks" are https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif or how they are valuable, and do not care about "rankings".  The site is for information pertaining to local networking events, and will feature articles written by other business professionals.  The site does not sell anything or generate any income whatsoever.  I didn't think $12 annually was too much to ask for, as I looked into joining a networking organization that charges nearly $300 per year!

I was hoping that by having my studio veena friends list their businesses for free, it would lend some credibility to this newly formed organization and encourage other local business to join.

One more thing… About 3 years ago I was scouring the internet for all things pole related and I happened upon a pole studio website…. Can't recall the site…. But  I clicked on their "Links" page and found a little link for studioveena.com and I clicked on it….https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
