Marle, there are sections on EDN outside the "restricted" area which are aimed at new dancers who can't make the "proof" requirements.

is it easier to begin on a stationary pole or a spinning pole? i'd like a spinning pole but they are more pricier and i heard through a forum beginners start easiest on stationary poles. is this true?

Instructors will usually reccomend you start off learning on a stationary pole for both safety and proper strength building. A lot of pole moves are executed and held differently on a spinning pole due to the momentum. I got a pole with a spin mode just for the fun of it though. Most clubs don't have spinning poles anyway so if you're only considering getting a pole to practice for work and concerned about the cost, just get a stationary pole.

I personally think whichever you start out of spin/static makes the other one seem harder. I started out on static though. Maybe someone here who started on spin can give you their input. If you are planning to become an advanced poler you should get a pole that gives both options because it will be cheaper than buying a second pole down the line. If it is more for work reasons that you are learning you should choose whatever type is common at the work places in your area.

Hi, I respect your decision but have you attempted to look for a job first? You can start prepping by doing your diet and working out.

lol, i just bought a pole today to practice, but i wouldn't just go out now and be an exotic dancer, i want to be good at it, i look at it as a beautiful art. and i'm trying to drink more water and try and incorporate exercise in my diet around next week when i'll have the time. t

I think it's beautiful art form as well. I have a pole as well. I love being online and looking around when I can't pole or at my work-study job. Good luck, keep us updated.

I started on spin, the club I work out has 2 spinning poles and to me static is SO much harder. I honestly I have no clue what to do with a static pole to this day and Ive been poling for 2 years now lol so I think it all depends what you start on and what you use the most.
