Ha Ha…took me a while to find that (Eagan) in the Road Atlas…guess I should get with the modern age and use map quest. I will ask for the Friday off tomorrow. I’m planning to come. I’ll drive to Minneapolis on Friday, stay overnight…and come home right afterwards on Saturday. I’l try to get a final answer for you by Friday the 5th.

Greetings to all!
I’m brand new to the site, and I don’t yet have a pole or any poling experience (I’m saving up $ for it ^_^). I would love to come to the Midwest Pole Jam if that is ok. I’m from the Grand Forks area (north of Fargo), but my husband has guard duty that weekend in the cities and we’ll be staying in Farmington (just south of Eagan). I can help by bringing snacks/beverages, and maybe even helping a bit with transportation (if hubby gives the o.k.).
For those of you not familiar with the area, there are lots of fun things to do in Minneapolis/St.Paul – but you might especially want to visit the Mall of America if you have time. It gets pretty darn cold here sometimes, so you will definately want a toasty warm winter jacket, hat, & gloves. Here is the link for the public transportation: http://www.metrotransit.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" There is a lightrail that connects the downtown area to the airport and as far south as the Mall of America. From there, there are a few bus routes that can take you into Eagan – but if I get the go ahead from hubby, I could pick some folks up at the MoA (I can fit 5 besides me). There are tons of hotels, and many offer complimentary transportation from the airport to the hotel. Also, there are many hotels along the lightrail line, especially by the MoA. I hope this helps a little bit. Please let me know if it’s ok if I attend, and also what kind of snacks/beverages would be preferred. Take care until next time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I am hoping to borrow a gps from my bf’s parents, but beyond that I wont have a clue to what hotel will be near the studio or where people will be staying at?? I would like to know if someone is staying at a hotel that way I could be at the same place and to save gas and what not to car pool??? I will be happy to buy treats/snacks, but it would have to be something to easy to transport!! For anyone interested in traveling, but not sure if it’s affordable – I thought I’d share this link: "http://us.lastminute.com/". It’s a travel site where airlines and hotels dump seats/rooms and what-have-you when it gets close to the date and they’re not sure if they’ll sell them. So lastminute usually only has stuff 2 weekends in advance – but at pretty good prices. Kind of nice if you want to take a spur-of-the-moment trip. Hope it helps. ^_^

I’m definitely coming to the jam! I’ll leave some time Friday Afternoon, stay overnight…and drive back to Chicago right after the jam. I’m pretty excited about it–it will be my first official pole jam at a pole studio. I can’t wait to meet all of you–and see friends from the Chicago SV pole meet-up last year.

LOL, too funny…I just said the words "Mall of America" …and all of a sudden Laurie said…"Oh really? Maybe I WILL go after all!"
OK, so I map quested it for anyone who is interested in a general description of the location. Bodyblast, 2020 Silver Bell Road is located about 4 miles south of the Mall of America. Anyone approaching the Twin Cities from the East on the Interstate 494 bypass would exit SOUTH at State Route 77 which is called Cedar Avenue. This is in the general area of the airport. Driving south you should immediately see the Mall of America on your LEFT. Continuing SOUTHBOUND 3-4 miles, cross over BLACKDOG LAKE (the wildlife refuge). Within a half mile of being over the lake, you should see Sibley Memorial Highway (route 13). EXIT EAST onto Sibley…and Silver Bell Road is about 3/4 a mile down the road.
Conversely, anybody coming from the south along Interstate 35 towards the Twin Cities will come to a fork dividing 35EAST from 35WEST. Take the fork that says 35 EAST. Very shortly after the fork will be an exit for State Route 77, which is called Cedar Avenue. Exit North onto 77 (Cedar Avenue). Go 3 or 4 miles to Sibley Memorial Highway (also called "13"). Exit East. Silver Bell Road is about 3/4 mile down the street.
Judging by the GOOGLE map, there is a MacDonalds roughly near the intersection. If you see Golden Arches, you are likely in the right general area.

Desperation Strategy: Would be to ask any local person "Which way is the airport?" Cedar Avenue is part of the loop-de-loop that circles the entire airport. As soon as you see it (it is also called 77), then STAY on it or (GET on it in a southwards direction) southbound until you cross over the Blackdog Lake. Turn East onto Sibley Memorial Highway until encountering Silver Bell Road 3/4 mile down the road.
