I struggle w this topic as well. In high school, I had beautiful skin and was really proud of it and wore hardly any make up. Now, as an adult I have adult acne. It is driving me nuts! Ive been treated by my gyno- w everything including a dee fractional laser. It is improved but still will break out monthly although not as severe. . Having experienced all this, I dont feel comfortable w out any make up anymore. My hubby loves the natural look and is always enouraging me to go w out, but I cant find the confidence anymore! I also had a lot of issues w my skin being ultra sensitive. I now use my doctor recommended makeup, Jane Iredale, mineral maeup. I do use it sparingly and go for a natural look w their minerals.  My doctor ENCOURAGES me to use it and says that it actually protects the  skin from bacteria and additional acne breakouts. She hs me wash my face then at least put a layer of a foundation on for protection. Otherwise she says the skin is exosed and ready to rrecieve bacteria- which will produce more acne.  Here is a link to this mineral makeup:http://janeiredale.com/whymin.html

I am definitely not a chemist, just staing what my doctor tells me, on their page it also states

*composed of inert minerals that cannot support bacteria.

Curious to know how this is ested and if that is true or not as this is the chorus my Dr sings!

i never wore makeup much, except in high school, until i was in my late 30's.  i was living in florida, i had bought a house, and i needed a second job.  so my friend who used to work at macy's in cosmetics told me, you should go work in cosmetics!  i laughed because i didn't even know how to put on makeup properly.  she said, just put on some lipstick and go in there..  and i got the job!  so for almost a year, i was the clarin's lady, lol :D.  after moving to oregon with a new boyfriend (now my husband), i continued wearing some makeup, but not as much.  now that i live on maui, i never wear it – because no one wears makeup here.  so i think alot of it just depends where you live and how you adapt to the culture.  but i think women are just as beautiful without it, and it is not a necessity at all.  hope that helps https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
