Hello all! It's been a long time! Anyone remember me from the early years of SV? I've had a rough couple of years and haven't been able to be on the pole as much as I'd like. Anywho…

Over five months ago, I sustained mostly 2nd degree burns to most of my non dominant hand and a large area of the forearm. I'm mostly scar free, there's just a general pinkness and shinyness to the areas that blistered the worst. A small patch on the arm that was more severely burned has recently finally healed up and is a hard lumpy scar. I have deep muscle aches and still get pins and needles that worsen with activity. I've been told this is due to nerve damage and should improve.

My question: anyone have any idea how much of a beating my new skin can take? Any ideas what I can do to toughen it up? I'm itching to get back on the pole and lose all the weight I've gained since quitting smoking a year ago and then torching myself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Of coarse I remember you!!! Nice to see you back. Ouch, that sounds very painful but I'm glad to know you are healing. I wish I could tell you how tough new skin is, I would thinks its pretty sensitive. Hopefully someone will come along that knows! For now maybe you could wear something over it to protect it while your getting back into pole? Congratulations on quitting smoking! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Welcome back!  So great to see you!!!  I've missed you since Pontiac closed down!  I'm sorry to hear of your burns – I had no idea!  I don't have an useful information outside of talking to your doctor.  In the mean time, are able to wiggle and grind?  I know how much you love the sexy stuff so maybe starting back with dance and transitions will be good for your soul?

Hi Shrew, welcome back! Wow what a horrible thing to happen.. glad that you're healing well though and want to get back on the pole.  I don't have any useful either, but i do agree with veena & charley about asking your doctor & starting off with the dancey stuff.. and congrats from me too for quitting smoking!

Thanks for the warm welcome back!

V, thanks for the suggestion! I have work out gloves; I can't believe I didn't think of that. Derp!

Charley, I have been doing a little one handed dancing already, you know me so well! I just really need to get back to climbing and inverting to amp up the workouty, get the muscles back and burn off the extra 20 lbs I've picked up.

Quitting smoking was the toughest thing I've ever done! This coming from an Army vet who birthed and raised 3 boys! But I was dianosed with COPD and really had no choice. Now I'm determined to get healthy and hike the AT. But first, I have to get back to the Aysha 🙂
