I have seen a few competitions where men compete against women. I personally do not like the idea since men can get so much stronger more easily then women and strength wise its is not fair. And I have also heard that it is easier for women to gain flexibility then men. So that might now be fair either.

I competed in a competition in the beginning of this year. There was Kittens category for thos who had been poling for about and less then a year. And Lionesses category for those who had been pole dancing for longer. In that competition women competed against men.

In the kittens category were 2 guys. They were some doing amazing stength tricks that you only see some of the best pole dancers do. The kinda stuff Jenyne does. One of the guys came in second place. Wich he did deserve. His performance was amazing and he was incredibly strong.
But I still don't think this is fair since the genders have diferent qualities and strenghts and competitions favor some qualities over others depending on the competition.

     What do you think?

    Fair or not fair?

I think it depends on the prerogative of the owners of the competition. Most competitions have two divisions one for women and one for men for that purpose… But it is also very interesting to mix it up…. I think it's great. Maybe there should be a competition all about men competing against women like a dance off. Something more about entertainment value rather than just tricks. I look forward to seeing where Derick Pierson places in Denver being the only male. If he won that could stir some controversy. But he would deserve it if the judges made that choice.

In that scenario, the goal should definitely be geared more towards creativity and showmanship, where both genders are equal.
