So I asked my parents for a mirror for my birthday, a mirror to put in my pole room. Right now I am videotaping my practices to see what I look like, and it is very helpful but it’s not the same thing as instant feedback. So my dad is going to go with me to a glass and mirror shop and have them cut me whatever I want!
So now the question is…what do i want? I don’t want to get something and then be disapointed because it’s too small to really be helpful. So here is my goal and some info about my pole space; I want to be able to see myself when doing inverted and "up the pole moves" (laybacks, sits, etc.), the ceiling is approx 7’6"-8′ high (too short for my liking…) and the mirror will be sitting on the floor against a wall about 6′-10′ away from my pole. Sorry for the vagueness, my pole is in a temporary location right now, so I am trying to include both locations in those measurements.
If you have any suggestions for sizes let me know, or tell me what size mirror you have in your pole room, and if you wish it was bigger or not.
    Thanks guys!

I went to Home Goods where they have an abundance of mirrors at good prices. It also gives you the opportunity to try out different mirrors before you buy to see what will — and won’t — work for you. Even if you go with the custom mirror, you’ll have an idea about dimensions. I keep mine propped against the wall so I can adjust the angle depending on what I want to see.
Sliding mirrored closet doors might be the solution!

I think IKEA has little square mirrors that you mount on the wall and you can put up as many as you want so that the whole wall is covered if you want!

Yes! LOVE those mirrors…I started by buying two packages of four and went back and now I have a perfect 8 by 12 square block of those little suckers and they work perfect! And cheap, like $5-8 bucks a package…

I just had the best mirror experience! I went to an architectural salvage warehouse and bought 6 sliding mirror doors (approx 6 feet tall) for…wait for it…$45!!!! I probably could have bargained them down to $40 or possibly less, but I didn’t want to be greedy about it. My husband said that the rollers (that slide in the closet tract) come right off. And because they’re built to be closet doors, they’re a touch more durable than freestanding mirrors. I’m so thrilled! So ladies, look to see if there are any salvage places in your area and you might save yourself a bundle!

If you have an Ikea near by, I agree that they have some of the best selections at affordable prices. I got this mirror (which is the same on Veena uses, I think) and I love it. It is just over 7 feet tall and almost 4 feet wide. The best part is that it’s only $100. Very affordable for the size. Right now I don’t have a pole space other than my living room, so when I need the mirror, I take it down off of my wall and then put it back when I’m done. However, I also agree with the other ladies that if you have separate space used only for pole, multiple packages of the 4 small squares can be used to cover the entire wall giving yourself a great view at a very reasonable price. let us know what you decide on. Congrats on the awesome gift! Your parents rock https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Thank you so much for that information, I was able to find such a place here in Detroit and they have mirrored doors! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Lowe’s also has rather large mirrors fairly inexpensive too. I haven’t seem them anywhere else but for about $40 you can a huge mirror.

Also Family Dollar (if you have one in your area) occasionally carries large mirrors for around $20. I am kicking myself for NOT buyin the 2 I saw there.

Check other thrift stores and secon dhand stores too.

Okay, so the birthday mirror didn’t turn out as expected…

My dad was going to take me to the custom glass shop and have a mirror, of whatever size I wanted, cut for me. I was pretty psyched at this prospect…had been thinking about size and dimensions, planning out exactly what I wanted. Well, he was helping a friend of his move and the guy had a mirror that he didn’t want to take to his new place, so my dad got it for free and gave it to me. It’s not as big as I would have chosen, and slightly more squarish than I would have picked for myself, but it is acceptable. It will do for now, until I can save up some money and take myself down to the custom shop. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
