I am moving into my new house on saturday and I will have a whole room dedicated to me and Chaka (my pole). I want to put some mirrors up and I was wondering what those of you used. I’m moving onpost into military housing so I can’t do any heavy duty installing. I’d like something big and cheap that I can take down and with me when I leave. I was wondering if I should look somewhere like Lowes or maybe just buy floor length mirrors from like Walmart or something.

    any ideas?

Veena’s big mirror in her bedroom I believe she said she got from Ikea. I love that mirror… And from the looks of it, she just has it standing up against the wall; it doesn’t look attached.

For one of my walls, I just bought 2 cheap full-length mirrors and put them up next to each other. I left the frames on, but it would work better if you took them off. They were only like $5 each.

Also, I have sliding closet doors in my bedroom. We needed new doors anyway, so I talked my husband into getting mirrored doors. So now I have another pole mirror, it makes our dinky room look a lot bigger, and I have a mirror for the original intended use for seeing how I look when I’m getting ready.

My big huge mirror is from my husbands closet door! I just pulled it off the track. The mirror with the silver around it is from Ikea. Ikea also has so cool small mirrors that you could put side by side to make a large mirror. I think they are about 9 bucks a piece. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

    Oh Goody,

Thanks Foxy and Veena. Those are both really cheap options. I was worried a big old mirror would cost a lot but I can definitely handle $5-$10 each….Now I just wish there was a way I could have hard wood flooring in the room Lmao…or at least around my pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Mirror with the silver??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Where’s that one? I’ve always heard you talking about your mirror being from Ikea and the only one I’ve ever seen is the big one by your 12 foot pole, so…

I’ve been doing a lot of putting my foot in my mouth a lot lately. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif Maybe I should take the hint… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Am I the only one who feels like they have to redeem themselves after making stupid comments like that? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

I know that because we live on-post overseas we can borrow gov’t furniture and one of the things they have is a HUGE floor mirror. The movers took some stuff back when we got our household goods and I want it back. Hmm… You know, I’m going to call them! Maybe your post might have one too? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_smurfin.gif

I lived on post and used the stick on squares from Ikea. When they have the "seize the day" deals they are five dollars for four squares. When I moved out all I did was goo gone them off. It was really easy and they didn’t charge us for any paint that got ripped off. I think they paint every house when you leave, anyway.

I am searching for a giant mirror, too. Oh…KIRKLANDS! Just before I left I parked outside next to their dumpster and it was FULL of mirrors with teeny chipped frames. I took one! It is pretty big, too. YAY! Now I don’t have to worry about getting a giant mirror. I forgot what I have since all of my stuff is still on the boat. (I just moved) ….or you could just buy one from there.

Home depot has plain large mirrors for $40! They do not have a frame and you would have to mount them – the mounts are less than a dollar, So far it’s the cheapest I’ve seen!

I am searching for a giant mirror, too.Yeah I just called housing and they no longer "rent" out furniture… just for people processing in or out who don’t have their household goods. You used to be able to keep it for the whole time you were here. Oh bummer!! I’m just glad I didn’t tell her we have some other gov’t furniture that we kept. Hehehe. I am getting to the point that I’m just thinking of making a mirror… might be cheaper than buying a floor to ceiling mirror. I just don’t seem to have any luck dumpster diving….

i took the cheapest route possible on this one! lol! i bought 7 of those cheap door mirrors from target (they were 5.99 each) && hung them vertically above one another on my 9 ft wall. so for about $40 i got a 4ft wide X 7ft tall mirror! they do have black frames around them, they would be easily removed if you didn’t want them on there but it kinda made it look more creative that way. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I think i need a stand mirror. We’re in a loft and really don’t have a lot of walls. Every space around the pole is taken. north, about 10 feet away, is hubby’s computer. (Perfect for veena’s lessons, I can watch from my pole and use the remote to rewind.) east, about 5 feet away, is the foot of our bed. West about 20 feet away is our window. (For some reason the patio across the courtyard fills up when I forget to close the curtains. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif ).

The only place I have for a mirror is the Support beam that’s about 8 feet south of the pole. I have a mirror on it but the pillar is only about 13 inches wide. so I only have enough space for one of those door mirrors from target. I can see the pole and my hands from the side, otherwise I have to be directly facing it.

I want to get some of those squiggly mirrors from IKEA, I can stack them all the way up the beam but I can’t figure out how to add width… so I’m gonna end up with a mirror 10 feet tall and a foot wide. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I’ve been keeping an eye out for one of those big freestanding mirrors but no luck yet.

    Anybody have any ideas?

if you have a "Home Goods" near you (its a store by TJ Max only with housewares) they had tons of those big mirrors that you can lean against a wall, or get a stand for. they were about $70 & the stands were $20. they were really pretty! they said they usually keep those in stock so if you have one near you they might have them too!
also try discount stores like "Ross, TJ Max & Marshells" maybe even big lots, lol! sometimes those places have un~common or odd shaped mirrors that would be perfect for that!
    good luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
