  • Mounting a pole in a tray ceiling?

My new pole space has a 10 foot tray ceiling, I can see beams & stuff in the attic but I’m not sure if they are like a normal beam in a ceiling or how they are connected to the other beams.. If that makes sense. I am looking at the getting a x-pert but I’m not sure if that would be stable since its tension mounted & I have a tray ceiling.
Does anyone on here, in the US have a pole mounted in a tray ceiling & if so do you have a permanent pole (screwed in the ceiling) or tension mounted?
    Thanks!!

i have looked online at the construction of a tray ceiling in the USA & it seems to vary from builder to builder, they all have beems 1 foot apart like a normal ceiling but some look like they are connected from the top down & others all the way across with supports above. if mine are connected from the top down i seems like a tension mounted could eventually push the beam out of place & cause the pole to have wiggle room.

i would love to hear from anyone who has installed a pole in a tray ceiling or anyone who knows a builder in the US & would know about this sort of thing.

if tension mount is not a good idea does anyone know where you can buy a 10 foot soild piece pole that would be screwed into the floor & ceiling?

    thanks so much! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I believe that LizzyLiz810 had a tray ceiling at her studio.  She does not get on teh forum much but she does post videos so I know she is around.  You may want to send her a message through here.

I've seen poles mounted in that type of ceiling. It just depends on if the joists are strong. You can always reinforce the joists and mount them

Lizzy's ceiling was concrete and not a true tray ceiling.

I have a tray ceiling in my bedroom where I am about to get mine mounted. Hmmm…I didn't know there may be a difference in the beams. Thanks!
