I have been practicing with my daughter for our first competition which is in two weeks and I have injured my back. I think over training under developed muscles in an attempt to master some new moves. I have been to the physio which has just made the pain worse. I am now sitting impatiently on the couch looking at the pole and so frustrated that I can’t work on our routine. Does anyone have any tips for a faster recovery???

I'm in Melbourne also and yes also hurt my back recently too! i pulled a muscle up the top near my shoulder blade, and it caused minor nerve damage down my arm.  6 weeks later the nerve stuff is gone and i feel great except sometimes i feel a bit tight in the upper back area after poling.  I think there isnt much to do to speed recovery except lots of rest, and in my case I got given some exercises to get me used to engaging muscles lower down in my back so my upper ones dont take all the load when im upside down.  did the physio give u some similar exercises? trying to pole when injured though will just make it take longer to heal, trust me, i tried to pole during my 6 week recovery and my body wouldnt let me, arm would buckle under me etc..

Not sure where in Melbourne you are, but I go to a chiropractor in Mt eliza. They are amazing. I’ve had years of back problems from trauma and having 3 kids, ive seen soooo many different chiros and physios & they are the best I’ve ever been too.

urgh…it is such a bummer to get these injuries. I currently have a VERY painful rhomboid/trapezius pulled during an inversion that my chiro said REST & ICE & TIME are the only cure so I am forcing myself to stay off the pole. I kept sneaking back to class and getting moves in and now 3 weeks later still in pain so I'm taking Dr. orders finally. Staying off so I can get back on asap!!  he said walk/elliptical in the meantime which does not inspire me much…can't wait to get back to the pole!!! Hope you feel better soon.

Seems there is no miracle cure sadly thanks for the advice rest is probably realistically the only fix. With the competition in 10 days this is a problem. I will take it as easy as I can sadly because I would have liked to have worked on a few harder moves!! Always next year x
