I have been dreaming of the star stand alone 4.0 forever, finally got this expansive bad boy. I cleaned it off with alcohol and warmed it with my blow dry but yet I ( STILL SLIDE) I don’t recall slipping this much with other poles. I warm my body up first and everything. The pole is a High Polished Stainless steel. I called the company and they suggest I spend another 200 hundred dollars on a pole cover. Please any one suggestions

Ugh, Stainless is the most slippery for me. Did you try SS prior to this pole? Other option is getting it powder coated, or learn to work with it. I have a chrome pole I just had my last fight with slipping over. I am painting it, it not worth the frustration any longer.

Stainless steel really works best when it’s broken in (heavily used). For me it doesn’t work well with my skin type and it’s so slick for me. You could try using this grip aid mix for now though!

I had this same issue. I used sandpaper. It did leave some cosmetic scratches n the pole but soooooo much factory gunk came off the pole as well. After that, I used a steam cleaner to steam clean the pole and since then, it’s been perfect. I still use alcohol for daily cleaning. Hope that helps.

i have a titanium gold xpole that i never could stick to until i sanded it. if you are going to keep the pole and the grip aids dont give you the results you want, i think you could sand it lightly. thats kind of what happens when a pole is “broken in”- you’re just speeding up the process. i sanded mine lightly and found immediately i had better grip. a week later i sanded the f*ck out of it lol and now it is my favorite pole- perfect stick. the gold finish, however got removed, but oh well. that’s better than staring at a pole everyday and never using it 🙂

What exactly are you sanding your pole with–like what grit sandpaper?

Actual sand paper from the hardware store but the finest grain available.

If you JUST ordered your SSA, don’t they have a promo right now for Pole Armour?

I have had good luck sanding my poles in the past. Use very fine grip and sand in a circular motion around the pole….not up and down it.

You MUST break in a stainless pole. It takes a while, and a lot of frustration, but stainless gets grippier with use. In the mean time, use grip aids to help you stick.

DO NOT sand paper as your first resort. a) that will void your warranty b) you could possibly ruin the pole c) the grip SHOULD improve with continued use, you just have to be patient.

I like to clean new SS poles with pure acetone a couple times. Seems to work a little better than alcohol at first and should not damage stainless steel.

I might suggest using the magic eraser type sponge. These are extremely light abrasives and will remove any gunk. Stainless is the trickiest material for me. Since I moved to NC I like it a lot however when I was in Ohio it was a battle every season change.
