I am terrified but excited guys. I am new to pole dancing and off course I realized how weak my upper body is. I cried after class last night because I wanted to get the moves so bad but I just couldn’t pull myself up. I tried and tried..got weaker each time but more determine to get it right.
I am scared that no matter how much I practice I might never get it. I have the most encouraging instructor but I am my biggest critique. I dnt know what to do..how do I get stronger? I couldn’t sleep, I woke up at 5am and did as many push ups as my body could let me. I dnt want to fail. My fears, my dance my pole.

Just keep trying, and you will get stronger. I struggled to do even the simplest things when I first started (almost a year ago) and now I’m totally blown away with how much stronger I’ve gotten. Be patient with yourself, it takes time, and don’t overdo it, your body needs time to heal after exerting itself in order to get stronger.

You will get there. I’m overweight, out of shape, and not very wrong. A month ago a pole hold looked impossible to me. Now, I can not only hold it, I can also get out of it in a controlled way.

I have tried many exercises and I’ve noticed nothing had conditioned my body as fast as pole. I subscribe to the lessons here and do the strength exercises often. I like how Veena has beginner versions for most everything. You gotta start somewhere to get where you want. The beginner versions are that first step. Don’t get disheartened and pole on.

Don’t be so hard on yourself! 🙂 I’m a beginner too and I can’t even lift myself out of bed most of the time let alone on the pole 😛 I did a 5 week beginner course for an hour once a week and I thought, there’s no way 5 weeks is going to make a difference…but it did! Small changes, but you do feel it, and that’s the motivation, when you know that you’re progressing even if it’s little baby steps.

There is no rush, enjoy the pole, move with it. The more you focus on what you can’t do the more disheartened you will feel, thus taking out the enjoyment. Focus on what you have achieved so far, actually attending a pole class is an achievement in itself, some people wouldn’t set foot through a studio door! 🙂

This forum has been a big help for me in a sense that everyone is friendly and willing to help 🙂
Don’t worry, you will get there. Everyone starts at the very bottom before working up. Myself included 🙂
Enjoy the experience and go with it 🙂

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Pole is very physically demanding, and it does take time to build up the strength that is needed to perform many moves. Please feel free to take a look at the lessons here, I have everything placed in order for you helping you build strength!! You can get 3 days of access with this code GET3FREE

keep trying.. but don’t over do it because you’ll be disappointed.. one step at a time! When I started I got disappointed cause I thought it would be easier! I could do a pole hold hardly for one second! Everyday you’ll get stronger and I’m sure you gonna love it! Here is something inspirational to watch http://youtu.be/Rd1bwWBqoy0
