Nail Polish Foils
Posted by minicoopergrl on November 16, 2010 at 11:38 amHas anyone tried these? http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P233713&categoryId=B70
Or something similar?I have a photoshoot coming up and Im trying to be on the cheap about it. Ive read that these can last a while. Also I always chip my nail polish during a pole session or a I seem to smudge it b/c Im always in a rush. If they last a month, IMO they are worth the $

For some reason I think Veruca may have had these done a while back….

Nope Chemmie…but I did do Mynx…and hated them…too expensive and they peeled up pretty quickly…I do Cal Gel now and SWEAR by it…love it – can get multi colors – my nails are hard as diamonds and never chip…totally worth the cost https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif My nails have grown and when they take the gel off my nails aren’t ruined like with acrylics. I have them touched up after 2 weeks because they start to grow out and the pink shows at the nail bed but they never chip lol
Google Cal Gel… here was one look I did with gradated red to black and the french gels I have now

I know Alethea also uses the Mynx nails but she seems to like them a lot but if they didn’t work for Verucablue then maybe they aren’t all that great, I haven’t used them personally though. But the cheapest and fastest way to get a good manicure is to go to your local beauty school, they usually do them for about $10-12 so you will get out for $15 total including tip and they are supervised by instructors so it technically is still a spa quality manicure. I have also heard good things about the gel nails too, and a lot of manicure places near me have specials early in the week where it’s a little bit cheaper. Maybe I should start a topic for beauty tips for people on budgets, I know I fall in that category for sure!

I finally bought them last night. I wanted the french manicure like the link I posted but they didnt have them. All they had were the holiday ones. Mine are a chrome/aluminum foil like color, the most plain ones they had. They were pretty easy to put on and file/sharp etc. I had 2 casualites that were easy to fix.
The only issue I may have is the reviews say they last for a few weeks but the box says 1-2 days. So far ive washed my hands, washed my face with them on so far. I havent tested them in the shower yet (I overslept this morning). Im liking them and I think I may start shopping at Sephora now. I could become addicted.

okay, I tried them last night…….i was soo excited….. I even did the whole nine yards of prep like all the comments on sephora said. *rub nails with remover,etc-check. *file to rough them up a little-check. *trim to fit-check. *rub well-check. *top with gel coat-check. ( I even went to sallys and bought a UV kit with the lamp and everything) *cure under lamp-check.
i slept. i woke. i peeled https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
i put the scraps on my daughters nails last night as well. I will report her progress later today! -
progress is……they look so cute for about 5 min.. then they fall off

to echo what verucablue said– i get calgels also. i wash dishes, teach 8 pole classes a week, type, pick at stuff, and am generally extremely rough on my hands–which is why i stopped bothering with manicures a while back. this was what my calgel manicure looked like when i got it done 2 weeks ago. today, it looks exactly the same. no chips, no cracks, no nothing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif it’s grown out at the cuticle but because i got the gradient to be clear to grey at the tips, you can’t tell https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif it also lets your nails breathe and is prefectly healthy to do, unlike acrylics. it costs about $60 but i think well worth it– it lasts for 3 weeks looking perfect.
