My bellydance teaching recommends ginger chews (like the ones from "Ginger People"), apparently it helps with nausea incuded from spinning. Haven’t tried it yet but I know other people who swear by it.

Are you using spin or static mode?

Static. All I’ve tried doing so far are beginner spins like the fireman and sunwheel, but I can only do a few and then my stomach starts churning and I have to take a break. Very frustrating! This didn’t even happen when I first started dancing. =/

Motion sickness can develop at any point in your life. It can also worsen due to hormone fluctuations. For me it was the onset of menopause even though I always dealt with it – it became much worse during peri-menopause. It can also worsen temporarily due to inner ear infections and anything that causes an increase of fluid build up in the head like congestion due to colds and allergies. It can also be caused by an accumulation of wax build up in your ear.

It may just be a change in your system. If so you should be able to adjust with practice. I still get motion sickness on the static pole from time to time. I find for myself it’s room ventilation or the need to increase my fluid intake.

Hmmm, if its really bad and you have never had a problem before I would just call your DR and ask if its anything to be concerned about. There are lots a good tips to help you, this thread was for spinny mode but you could apply most of it to static too. Check this one out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif

Thanks for the input, ladies. I guess I’ll just keep trying to practice every couple of days, see if the problem sorts itself out or not, and go from there.
