    Hello!
I’ve been stalking the forums for awhile now and feel it is now time to post something.
I’ve been working on the pretzel spin, but my problem is that the spin is more pretzel and less spin! I can get myself in the correct position, but I keep getting stuck in it and am unable to spin once I’m in this position. Has anyone else run into this problem? I have a Lil’ Mynx pole and wish it could go into spinny mode, then I’d have no problem with the pretzel spin!

The skin contact in this move is in your armpit area, hips and hooked leg.

Try wearing trackie pants, leggins/tights or even jeans so that you don’t stick as much with your legs, and a top with capped sleeves (or long sleeves) – and then the rest of your body can ‘learn’ how spinning in the pretzel feels.

This one needs a lot of momentum to continue spinning once in the pose, and you also have to resist putting too much pressure on your legs (don’t squeeze with the knee pit for example) because that is what will make you stop.

I’m having this problem too. I literally just started trying this spin (like last night LOL) and what I did was just got myself into the position to get accustomed to it. I can’t imagine my body spinning like that LOL.

Tonight I’ll actually put on some clothes to pole and try it out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Thanks for that advice! I was practicing last night in short shorts and a sports bra, so maybe that is why I could only spin a tinyyy bit before getting stuck in that position https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif . I think I was probably gripping too tight with my knee too as I wasn’t used to that position, and it is a weird position. I’m eager to try again!

This video helped me a TON when learning this move: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEEUztGgwdE

I thought that video was brill too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I still stick when I try a pretzel in shorts though. In trousers, I spin well enough but, in shorts, I get about half way around the pole before my bottom leg decides we’re stopping. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Seems like it’s just a case of reminding it who’s boss though!

Wow! Yeah, that was a great vid. I just got into the pose from swinging around but not able to spin! That was cool.

Hey sorry to add this on to your post but its kind of related (and may be something you find) …
Does anyone know of a graceful way to get out of this spin rather than just trying to detangle yourself from the pole as quick as possible?
I can do the spin fine but it has to be at the end of a combo for me because I can’t move from this move to another with any kind of grace/prettiness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Any tips or combo ideas would be fab!
    Thanks
    Char xx

Oh also if it helps … i found that once i could get into the position from a spin (i.e. not just walking into the move) i could experiment with kicking off harder and also loosening the various grip points (which helped me continue spinning once in position). Practicing in clothing could hep but make sure you are pretty confident with the move/hold with your top hand first, because you end up twisted around the pole and if you fall it could go pretty wrong!

    chilli,
Roxy-Pink has a good video on here that shows how to exit gracefully out of this spin… here’s the link

when i do my pretzel i do i serious RG, i kick way out to the side, grab high and i use my L hand (for me its my sub dom) and kinda PUSH off the pole when i begin to wrap around, it lifts me higher on the pole so i can spin more, pants is GREAT for this move to help you spin when you’re learning, but really its not the type of spin you go around a trillion times. As for on spinny you kinda just walk into it and then will spin pretty but you dont need it. And i always just kinda step out of it, i use my right (bc i wrap with my left) leg and kinda step farther away from the pole than you would think and i spin out…i learned it from and alethea austin video, her twilight video or something like hat…good luck with it, everyone thinks its impressive when they see it =)

I still can’t get this move https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif But now this thread has been posted I’m gonna try again, that video shows the leg round the pole being lifted up slightly, i never do that so gonna try.
