Need help with the move Hello boys!

I want to do the move Hello Boys (I know others call a different move hello boys but this is the one I mean: http://h-e-photography.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2xp9kf) but as soon as I try to move my legs into position after I’ve put my hand underneath me down the pole I just slide down onto my lower hand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_neutral.gif Does anyone have any tips how to prevent this? Or know of a tutorial to help with this move? I think it looks so pretty so really want to be able to do it myself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif

Veena’s lesson here is really good! If you don’t have the lessons, though, try pulling your knees back towards your shoulders once you get your hand positioned under your cheek and then open your legs. This works for me!

hm. you don’t go into this move the same way you go into a wrist seat (http://www.polzapart.co.uk/images/gallery/DOUBLE_WRIST_SEAT.jpg). you need to arch your back, let your head lean back and let your body go into plank with one hand above and below–you shouldn’t be sliding down when you do this. then twist through the hips to skew the legs. the only thing keeping your hips in place is the pressure you apply by pulling your crotch into the pole with your arms.

In the pic I see her hand is thumbs down. I like to do this move with my bottom hand a little closer to my bum and thumbs up kinda like a wrist sit. It also helps me to make sure I have pole contact right underneath my butt cheek on the thigh that’s extended (left). In the pic looks like she’s just opposite. She has major contact on the top of the right thigh. I love this move though especially when it slowly spins just a bit. Good Luck!

i think a "hello boys" is a wrist seat, but she was asking how to get into hte move in the pic- thats why in my reply, i was telling her how to get into the move in the picture, not a wrist seat.

Either with wrist seat/sit, or this variation I’d recommend placing the bottom hand thumb up though, to protect your wrist!

I believe http://www.wikipole.org calls this the lady garden or advanced plank/layback and Felix also does a version that is called something with hearts.
For me I try to turn my torso sideways so I can bend my lower shoulder back. I do this with the same grip as an advanced plank which is thumbs facing down. I thought the hardest part of this move was getting my upper body in the right position – it requires a bit (not a ton) of back flexibility. Darn it! You’re right! I got so caught up in the wrist seat story that I forgot that I actually (usually) treat this as an advanced plank variation (thumb down). Although both are very possible and very pretty.

But then it’s still a matter of naming the variation in leg positioning. It’s almost attitude legs, but not quite since the front leg is straight. Hopefully someone already has a good descriptive name for it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif -

i call it a skewed plank (just to avoid confusion using "twisted" as a handgrip as opposed to body placement)
