    Scarletthoney gave some really good advice- even put on smile on face because I remember being where you are right now!
    What I can promise you is it will get better after time and practice! And believe it WILL improve! 🙂

    Don't give up!! It is so worth it when you see yourself improving. The excitement you have when you accomplish something new is worth going through more disappointing times! Each day is a new experience with pole. Some days for example I can do the most advanced pole moves I know while other days I feel like I can hardly lift myself off the ground.  It takes dedication and a lot of patience. I am still trying to build strength in my arms and somedays I get really discouraged ( I've actually smacked my pole in frustration). I always force myself to go back to the pole though and keep trying. Maybe you could find a friend or family member to learn with you. I know that for me having my best friend there to show my new moves too and just to have someone there to encourage me helps a lot! Other than that though, I am very sorry for your injury. For an injury like that I would suggest starting off slow no matter what an individual's strength level may be and checking with your doctor to see if it is safe, even if the answer may no be what you want to hear. Injuring yourself worse won't help to speed up  your process on the pole. but anyways good luck and please don't quit if it is safe for you to continue! It is all worth it in the end!

    Gaaaah!! I have just written a nice response and the computer froze! Grrrrr!

    Reading all your comments and everyone's bottom-line response is "Don't quit! Don't give up! Keep persevering and you will get there!" is really encouraging to me.
    I have had many pole days where I've gone to my pole class and left feeling so sh*t that I have actually cried on my way home in the car. Thoughts like "Maybe I'm just not cut out for this? I totally suck. I should be doing better than this…" run through my head when I don't have a good pole day.
    It would have been reassuring during times like these when someone sat next to me and told me to keep going, not to quit because better pole days were coming up ahead!

    The only person cheering me on in my pole journey would be my boyfriend and the Veeners on this page!

    Thank you for making this such a supportive and loving page!

    I feel real encouraged reading all your responses!

    I echo what everyone else has said 🙂 I started with zero strength, and now my instructors are telling me “you are strong enough to do this”. Another thought – can you try a different instructor? I’ve had the experience of walking out in tears after lessons with one instructor at the studio I go to. Now I just won’t go to her classes. Luckily there are other instructors I can learn from, and I nearly always come out smiling after their lessons.

    I understand how you feel.  It's a very slowwwww process for some of us.  I am going through the same thing with having very little upper body strength, but just don't give up.  You are not alone, but I know it is very frustrating.  Keep working on it and you will improve.  If you can hold yourself up for even an extra second, then that's progress.  It takes time.

    What's the problem with the squats? How do you sit down on a chair in everyday life? A squat isn't that different from sitting down ..

    If you have back problems you might want to start working on core stability additionally to the pole strength routine (front planks, side planks, bird dogs, … no crunches or stuff like that)

    Also why do you think you can't do the strength routine without flexibility? I can't think of any exercise for the upper body (which seems to be your biggest problem)  in Veenas routine that requires flexibility. Except of course you have poor thoracic spine mobility and can't put your arms over your head.

    Apart from that … just like the other ladies said, keep at it, it can only get better! 🙂
