New member, a mom and military wife
Posted by Felisha on May 9, 2011 at 10:10 pmHello to everyone! My name is Felisha and I’m new here. I’ve been poling about four months now. Was doing it everyday but have cut back quite a bit. I am self-taught their is a small studio close but I’m originally from San Antonio tx and now live in San Diego ca because my husband is a marine. I have no family here and most of my friends have moved so no sitter. So my only form of teaching is YouTube 🙂 tnx to everyone who posts so people like me can learn. Would like to meet other women who live in San Diego and who maybe have kids, I’m young only 22 but have dealt with so much and poling really is my stress reliever. I’ve suprised myself at things I’ve learned and I hope to keep learning. I’d appreciate any advice to mommies with smaller kids who find time to practice I’m currently not working because my love is only 9 months but bein a wife and mom is a full time job so sometimes I find myself not able to get in as much practice. Any advce is greatly appreciated!! Tnx will upload pics to my profile soon!!

Welcome to SV! How active is your baby? You could use a baby activity center (i think that's what they're called) to keep the baby entertained close by while you practice. Though my son's a toddler now when I needed to do computer work it was a lifesaver. Regardless, you now have a great group of friends from all over the world & hopefully you'll find some pole pals in your area. Happy poling!

My daughter is nine months, she doesn’t have an activity center but she has a jumper so she sits in their and jumps like crazy.. Lol. The issue is now she sits alone so she doesn’t wanna be in their long and would rather sit alone which is fine but every so often she falls and cries etc. So now I’m limited to just her nap time 🙁 which is maybe at best a good hr in the morning and afternoon

Okay…well this depends on how your house is set up, but I used to lay a few comforters over the carpet in the living room (baby proofed) and used my ottomans to create a closed space. Then I layed down some toys & let him do his roll & tummy time. Since your daughter wants "independence" from the jumper she might stay busy figuring out how to become more mobile.

Same here, no advice, but just participating in this site will alleviate a great deal of the isolation that is part of being a military dependant. We're here for you!!!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Tnx girls for all the warm welcomes! I’ll def have to try somethin with her so I can get more practice in.. But she’s such a good baby so she makes that part easier. Had a couple questions.. Like I said I’m fairly new to pole dancing.. So maybe they are silly questions so my apologies.. 1. How do y’all edit yalls videos I have a great digital camera and I actually like how my iPhone records my but I don’t knw what to use to edit that way I can post. 2. I am super excited just got the extended butterfly yesterday! My husband was their to encourage me and got a few pics to witness it lol but I’m having such a hard time doing the cross knee release been workin real hard seems like I’ll never get it 🙁 any advice?? Happy to be here though and make friends! 🙂

Hiya and welcome to SV! I’m also a young mom (22) with an 18 month old very active toddler! Its near impossible4 me to pole when he’s in the room as he wants to run round the pole!lol I try to make use of his naptime which means no music on when I’m polin 🙁 When Krystian was younger he would play in the travel cot quite well so that mite be an idea?extended butterfly already?!congrats that’s fantastic! I still haven’t got it,scared of falling!any tips?have u been using anything to help you grip the pole for your cross leg release?

HI welcome to the site! I'm a mommy of 4 and had spent a few yrs living away from family stuck with out sitters so I feel for you!!! I have a ton of lessons here including the Extended Butterfly. Its perfect for a mom who can't get out of the house! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi, welcome! Mommy of 5 here. We always lived away from family so I know what it is like to not have sitters. I could never get anything done unless it was nap time for the kids. If you have a childproof room where you can put up a gate at the door, that might be an option. Put them in a high chair with food! (in the room with you of course)

Thanks to all of u who have responded.. I’m thinkin of practing harder things when she’s sleeping, and once she’s awake probably putting her in a highchair with snacks and her DVD player.. It’s kinda hard to practice and be sexy when spongebob is on the flatscreen in hd lol.. I don’t use grip on my body but I use itac 2&3 depending on what I’m doing.. As far as the cross knee release it’s not pain or anything holding me back, I’m able to do other things that hurt alot more then that does, I just feel like the placement of my legs is wrong and the pole doesn’t sit in the right spot of course in studio lessons would help that but that’s not an option so any advice will help 🙂 and I’m happy to be among other mommies 🙂 as well as having an amazing mother who supports me.. Sent her some pole pics yesterday.. Her reply??…. Your awesome! 🙂 makes me smile no matter how old we get we will always need our moms 🙂

Oh and one more thing can y’all please pray for my daughter.. She’s 9 months old.. We have a neurology appt tomorrow at the navy hospital.. For her 9 month check up the dr said she thinks she might have a mild case of cebral palsy.. She’s extremely healthy I say that because she’s only 9 months is 25 lbs and 30 in! She wears a 2t.. Big dif from my 115 lb body frame lol.. But anyways she doesn’t really use her right hand. She doesn’t open it, it’s mainly closed all day she doesn’t hold her bottle or sippie cup doesn’t reach for anything or grab food and toys does all of the with the left though.. This girl is super smart it’s scary, of course it hurts to hear something might be wrong so please pray it’s been stressing me out since last week 🙁 will
Post once we’ve gotten home tomorrow -
Hey Felisha,
I'm not a mother and I'm not married or anything but welcome to SV! I will keep my fingers crossed for your baby girl. I really hope everything will be okay.

Hope your neurology appointment went well, was thinkin of u both!!

Tnx girls for the concern and prayers lily for sure has cerbal palsy. It’s mainly affecting her right hand so its not allowing her to learn to crawl since she can’t use it.. She has her first physical therapy appt on wed
-
And she will need to be sedated to get an MRI done to knw exactly what’s wrong and how much is affected. I’m Christian and I’ve been praying like crazy and have the faith but this is my baby and I’d do anything to help her. On a brighter note it has brought us a family closer together. It’s still heartbreaking though so please continue to pray for her
