Hello everybody, from London, UK! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I'm new and absolutely wide-eyed in wonder on stumbling onto this hub of info and wisdom. I love reading through the posts in this community and through beginners' tutorials on YouTube, which have been absolutely invaluable… I already feel like I've learnt so much through osmosis alone! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I've only recently starting pole dancing after a couple of years of wishful thinking but not being in a position to buy lessons; I eventually bit the bullet though and have just finished a 6-week beginner course on spinning poles only – of course now I'm now completely hooked!

However it's safe to say that, despite a dance background, I am NOT "a natural" on the pole, and I feel I'm nowhere near the skill level of others who have been poling for a similar time. My course has ended but there's no space at the school on the next step for a while; plus I'm travelling abroad on holiday next month, so I'm very afraid I'll lose any strength I've built up in my arms by the time I'm back (I already fatigue quite early)… sadly there's no space where I live for a pole or else I'd get one for self-practise! Any tips on keeping my strength up before I get access to a pole again?

    Welcome, Orchis!

Veena's lessons are invaluable in my opinion – she does have a strength training section even if you don't have a home pole and can't use the tricks lessons. Exercises are either based on working against your body weight or using a therapy band, and you can do all of them without a pole if you get creative with your surroundings! Maybe you could buy a short membership and see what you think?

Failing that, you could use YouTube, research the 'net or use a library to look up some strength building moves you can do at home. When you're back from your travels, you could join a gym too which may be helpful.
