Hey guys, so completely off topic for pole, but I can't find the answer to this question anywhere.

I've had my nose pierced for at least 3 years (pretty sure it's more like 4 but I'm not entirely sure). Anyway, I recently swapped to a small stud. It's a gold one and was bought from a piercing studio.

My nose, however appears to be eating it and it's starting to look like it did when I first did it. My nose, I thought, had completely healed considering the time I've had it in.

Do I need to go back to the piercing studio for a slightly bigger stud?

Was the previous piece of jewelry gold? Your body could be reacting to the metal itself. This is very common and could be remedied by changing it out. Only a suggestion…

No it wasnt. before I had a cheap $8.00 metal one in (not entirely sure what it was), and then when the stone kept falling out I swapped to a plastic retainer. I now have the 9 carot gold small stud in

My parents pierce and I have had friends that do not react well to gold. If you have the retainer you might want to switch it out and see if that helps. If it does I would look to buy a different material to replace – surgical stainless steel, titanium, silver….even then you may find others that can irritate. Others may post other suggestions, just thought I’d give you one thought.

Thanks TLizzard! I will try the retainer when I can find it again

I only think that could be the issue since you didn’t have probs for 3-4 years and started to have the issues after you changed the type of jewelry…..hope it gets better!
