Ok so I was trawling through my Perez Hilton news feed this afternoon waiting for the working day to finish, and come across this article about the Pole Dancing bid for the Olympics.

the person that said "if you think pole dancing is basically gymnastics then you haven’t watched enough gymnastics" should know how big of an idiot she sounds like, she obviously hasn’t seen any real pole dancing, dear lord.

tbh I don’t really mind that he used my photo, I’m actually kind of glad that he used a more artistic one, I would have thought a guy and website like this would be more likely to use one of the many dodgy cliche stripper with her fake boobs hangin out pics. Shows a lot more respect for the idea of pole dancing as a serious, well, not necessarily sport, but something to be considered outside of the traditional strip bar.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the comments, PH just attracts the freakoids and crazy people that love to leave slanderous comments about whatever the topic is. They are quite amusing though!
I am surprised that he didn’t use the pic of the Japanese winner that surely would have been submitted alongside this press release from the IPDF.

Reading those comments made me so upset that I actually starting crying in front of my computer. Why are people so closed minded and judgmental?
I showed some pole moves to my aunt who put my cousin through gymnastics and she thinks it’s a great sport. She think there should be after school program for children to start them young (gymnastic mom much?). She also thinks that to get it accepted, we need to take the word "dance" out of it and change it to "athletic pole". The pole DANCE as we know (heels, sensuality, femininity) could stay in competitions like the USPDF. But "athletic pole" done in the olympics should be done barefoot with a style similar to oona’s.
I really really want to make this a reality so those nasty commentators in the link can drown in a pool of their own disgusted puke.

Hey Polegrrrl, that’s pretty cool, landing on Perez. I go to that site a lot, how did I miss it???? The comments are so unfortunate, but they always are on that site. Reading them, I feel compassion for the dancers out there that these comments are directed towards. Such hatred and intolerance!
