The easist way I have gotten into this is how Marlo gets into it in this video at 4:00.

Has anyone successfully done the first picture? The trouble I'm having, doing it from a CAR as an earlier poster suggested, is getting my butt off the pole. Even if I get my hands close together enough to lean back, I just can't get off the pole. If anyone figures out the first picture, please let me know.

1st of all I hve to say, Elektra if u’r getting even 1/2 close to doing this trik, u r badass. 2nd, maybe u already noticed this, but just in case u haven’t I’ll point it out. In that pic looks like she’s actually pushing away from the pole to some extent w/top of ankle of her BOTTOM leg… Could that be what gets her butt away from the pole?

I noted the same thing that firebird did that the instep of the bottom foot is against the pole and also agree with something Charley mentioned last night…you can get into that from Stargazer.

I would probably try gripping my arm with my butt cheeks. LMFAO!!!
-
and the second pose is laying back from a wrist seat with a heck of a lot more flexibility in the back!

Good God!! W#:9afiwe4;98fa3j!! Don't really know what else to say about this contorted display of awesomeness…

@firebird and Mary Ellyn: I also noticed that she had the top of her ankle on the pole. That seems to suggest that she got into it from a pole split, although it's conceivable that she somehow got it on there later, from a CAR. Either way I wasn't able to make it help that much. I think the real problem is that you have to have an insane amount of bend in your back to get that far away from the pole without magically stretching your arms. In other words, it just comes down to back flexibility, and I for one, don't have enough. At some point I hope to get a contortionist friend of mine on the pole, and when I do, we'll see if she can do it…

So… I was able to do it from a stargazer but almost lost my grip and fell on my head… very hard and dangerous trick… beware and use a crash mat!

It seems this is a solo trick called stargazer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo_OuhhLKScMy splits are not flat. And I cannot do a marlo split at all. And it (stagnazer) works for me. I'm able to get into Orion from this pose but my lines are far from beautiful.
Another option that also works for me is http://cs305608.userapi.com/u18097815/-14/x_b4e635a3.jpg
Legend is right. Anyway Orion can be dangerous. It needs back flexibility and strong grip to be able to hold one's own weight as it is a hang, not a sit. Everyone, be careful, please.

I have tried it fron ckr but need to be able to get hand grip lower to be able to hang, so am gonna try it from dangerous brain and see.

@ rita ch: Thanks for the info. I did try it from stargazer without any more luck. However, I managed something like the second photo from a wrist seat. I really think the problem is back flexibility. Too bad because I love hangs- iguana is one of my favorite positions- so I was looking forward to learning a new one.
